Ladies like that aren't a rarity. Its all about the fans and the band imho. Those are hard to find elsewhere.

I think I would rather look at these girls than band members. Plus, people who live in Southern California get to see girls who look like this all the time as well. But people who go to Wisconsin or Boston College have no knowledge of such women.

Maybe its just the campus then...

Girls like that are everywhere on campus, and football players can tap as much ass as they want. We'll put it this way: when the team won at Notre Dame, they didn't go and talk to the Songgirls, they went over to the band and fans and listened to their fight song. When the girls are easy to come by, its the other things, like the band and rabid fan base that motivates players. And maybe the relationship between UT's players and the band isn't like ours, but the players and coaches at USC love us.

Football players love band....

Like they love cortozone shots. They have to have them but really don't love to be around them. In case you haven't noticed, all football players gather around the band after a victory and most times in defeat. When the band plays the school song, as a show of respect for the school they love, they raise their helmets or hand sign to honor the school. Since the band plays the song they typically gather there. If the song girls sang the school song, they'd gather there. They don't exactly get "ass" when they're sweaty and tired. All they want to do at that point is get into the showers. Gathering around the band is not special to USC and it's not because the football players want to be your friend. Don't kid yourself.

I'm not...

The atmosphere between the band and the team at USC is simply different than at other campuses. My parents are ardent UT fans, as are basically all other members of my family, but those who have come to USC games agree that the interaction between the band and the team is completely different than at UT. Its not our fault Pete Carroll and Art Bartner get along well. It just makes it fun when the head coach and team come to band practice. And stay after the game. And come to jock rallies. And ignore the song girls. Sorry that you guys can't experience it like that.

You may think the team loves you

But I garounte that every single football player would rather spend 5 minutes alone with a song girl that any member of your band.
Football teams love the band, you play music while they play, but just dont get your hopes up at being invite to their parties, those invitations are reserved for the song girls.

It's a son of a bitch. Acceptance is next Link. It's not that we think you're not cool.... Yeah it is. Band members just don't get the love you think you do. You hype the crowd. They're appreciative of that. But really... how many football players that you're not related to have invited you to a party? And if you have a penis you won't be getting any invites any time soon.

Oh. I'm sorry. Did you think that.... Don't cry little fella. Little fat flute players don't get the invites either. I'm sure you'll be invited to a band party!! That'll be fun; won't it?

That was all in fun. But seriously. You don't really think that it's a common thread to be at the stadium at the same time do you? They really couldn't care less.

I'll concede that...

No, the band doesn't get invited to the parties over the song girls (scratch that, the average member of the band doesn't get invited), but at the same time, the relationship is not overblown. I'd hope its similar to UT, but if its not, you guys are missing out. Will I ever party with the team? no. Can i honestly say I help win football games? yes. Just ask anyone who went to Notre Dame. For me, thats fulfilling enough.

BTW, i'm jealous, the UT cheerleaders are a lot hotter than the Songgirls. Gotta love southern hospitality.

You're right. As a fan, it deeply saddens me that UT football players don't have a special connection with the band. I feel like I'm missing out on so much. Damn you, Mack. Forget all of the wins, forget a possible national title run and Heisman Trophy, I need you to make sure our football players and band form a special bond. I'm missing out! I don't want to miss out!

Dude, you just don't get it, do you? I'm sure I speak for about 98% of UT fans when I say we don't give a rat's hairy ass about band. And we especially don't care if our football players have a connection with the band. I mean, we REALLY don't care. It's never actually once entered our minds. So, band dork, we are not missing out on anything. Not one single thing. Now go put on your funny hat and shut the hell up.

Really. Houw many wins does USC have?

Does USC have 800 or more wins? No actually, they don't. Texas is sitting at 799 and waiting on 800 with a blowout of hated A&M. Only 2 other schools have that many wins: Michigan and Notre Dame. USC has 730. How is 730 a lot more than 799?

I was referencing...

...the Heisman Trophies and National Championships actually. UT has the Trojans beat in terms of total wins. But then, USC also has 10 Nat'l championships (that number is debatable b/c of various voting methods etc.) and have 6 Heisman's. And we have the band. And when we ram our fight song down your throat in the Rose Bowl and your fans go home saying "I hate that goddamn song from that goddamn school and those goddamn band nerds," I will have done my job. Thats exactly what Notre Dame fans said, and UT fans will say it too.

As for the funny hat, we wear helmets you ignorant Texan. Shame on you for giving the rest of us a bad name.
