An Important Word on Class

I don't know about any of you, but all this talk about class, respect, running up the score, etc. is making me sick.

"Scoring 70 points is just classless. A blocked punt with 10 minutes left in the third?  A hard tackle that knocked out Klatt with the game in hand?  Mack should have called off the dogs midway through the second quarter.  They should have just punted on first down every possession."

"(Gasp!!!) Rodrique Wright said he wanted to dominate in the Rose Bowl???  How dare he?  Doesn't he know how good USC is?  Shouldn't he show some respect to the mighty Trojans, the best football team in the history of the world?"

"Vince said he's more of a leader than Reggie.  That's disrespectful to Reggie.  Doesn't he know that Reggie Bush is the greatest running back in the history of football?"

"How can you say that Matt Leinart isn't more clutch than Vince?  Didn't you see that 4th-and-9 at Notre Dame?  That's just not showing enough respect towards Leinart."

Obviously, I'm paraphrasing here, but I've heard and read these sentiments all over the place and all I have to say is - really...who gives a shit?

This is college football, not the Paris Peace Talks.  Why must we tiptoe around all this?  Let's add some color to all of this.  I want Vince to say he's going to throw it all over the USC secondary.  I want Reggie to say he's going to run through the Texas defense as if it didn't exist.

And God forbid that internet bloggers should talk trash.  Has everyone's skin gotten so thin that nobody can take a joke?

Let's liven it up a little.

You're off base...
Paraphrasing is dangerous...especially when you change the meaning of what someone actually said.  Granted, soom sentiments were presented like this.  Bearing that in mind, you're appearing like a complete ass who doesn't even understand what others are arguing.

Feel free to say VY is going to throw all over USC's secondary.  Feel free to talk trash.  But also remember that calling people out isn't the best idea when you misrepresent what they say...just ask PB and BFT.

Exactly
This is exactly what I'm talking about.

I wasn't misrepresenting, I was exaggerating (which I thought was pretty clear from the things I typed). But I guess I should have explicitly stated that, since I knew that someone would immediately take offense.

Is it not obvious that these are exaggerations?  Did I specifically "call" anyone out?

But, thank you anyway. Your comment has simply proven my point.

I figured most learn by example...
And your trash talking sucks...you might want to work on that.

What???
I have no idea what you're talking about, but it is clear you have completely misunderstood what my original post was all about.

I'll try to slowly walk you through it one more time.

A lot has been made, at various times, of a few things people have said or done about an opponent and construed them as classless and/or disrespectful.

My main point was to ask why people, especially internet bloggers, would care so much.  Take me back to the days when Muhammad Ali would declare he was the greatest and he would knock anyone out.

Why is it a bad thing to appear confident or even, dare I say it, cocky?

But, of course, you latch on to one thing in my post (the exaggerated comments) and misconstrue them as trash-talking.  At least I think that's what you did.  And you immediately started playing the sensitivity card about "misrepresenting" what people said, which helped prove my point about people taking themselves so seriously.

Is this all clearer to you now, or should I dumb it down even more?

Maybe you should smarten it up...
I tend to ignore idiotic posts, but i'm curious as to how long I can make you keep responding to this one.

Back for more
You're right.  I probably should stop.  After all, you missed the point entirely and now you are either acting stupid or just lack the intelligence to make a relevant post.

And just out of curiosity, how long before you fix the typo in your signature?

Probably never
Its become endearing
