Geez
Nebraska basically handled opponents with ease that year, except for the double OT kicked ball in the end zone play at Mizzou. They slam dunked No. 3 Peyton Manning-led Tennessee in the Orange while Michigan eeked by Ryan Leaf-led WSU in the Rose.
Try NU 1997 over Michigan first (AP had a Michigan hard-on that year ... see heisman winner for further details on that)
Aug. 30 Akron 59-14 W
Sept. 13 Central Florida 38-24 W
Sept. 20 at Washington (#2) 27-14 W
Oct. 4 Kansas State (#17) 56-26 W
Oct. 11 at Baylor 49-21 W
Oct. 18 Texas Tech 29-0 W
Oct. 25 at Kansas 35-0 W
Nov. 1 Oklahoma 69-7 W
Nov. 8 at Missouri 45-38 W
Nov. 15 Iowa State 77-14 W
Nov. 28 at Colorado 27-24 W
Dec. 6 vs. Texas A&M 54-15 W
Jan. 2 vs. Tennessee (#3) 42-17 W
Eh, it's still Michigan
The BIG 10
From 1999 - 2003 followed some really low to mediocre years in BIG 10 country.
Fans would like to pretend it was still the best conference, but Lloyd Carr and Cooper made sure it underachieved.
Michigan produces some decent recruits, but Ohio and Penn churn out some of the best HS players outside of Texas and Florida.
Random thoughts......
