Texas' Big and Bright Future
The Austin American Statesman released their Fab 55 list on Christmas Day. For those of you not familiar, the Fab 55 is the list of the best Texas high school football prospects. Texas has commitments from three of the top five players, five of the top ten, and 14 in total. Leading the list is Sergio Kindle a 6'4" 225 lbs. linebacker from Dallas. Kindle has been favorably compared to recent Longhorn star Derrick Johnson and to Dallas high school star and former NFL star Jesse Armstead. Also in the top five are DE Eddie Jones 6'3" 240 lbs. from Kilgore and CB Deon Beasley 5'10" 160 lbs. from Orange. Rivals.com currently has the Texas class rated second in the country. Texas has commitments from two 5-star recruits, ten 4-star recruits, and thirteen 3-star recruits as ranked by Rivals.
The excitement of the Rose Bowl is less than a week away, but the future looks bright for the Longhorns win or lose in Pasadena.

04:59 PM CST on Thursday, December 29, 2005
By TIM MACMAHON / The Dallas Morning News
The Parade All-America football team includes four area players: Woodrow Wilson tailback/linebacker Sergio Kindle, Skyline linebacker Michael Morgan, Highland Park quarterback Matthew Stafford and North Mesquite offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb.
The team will be released in its entirety in Sunday's Parade Magazine.
Kindle (6-4, 225) is one of four finalists for the magazine's Player of the Year award. He rushed for 2,298 yards and 40 touchdowns on 218 carries and made 115 tackles (31 for losses) to lead Woodrow to an 11-1 record. Rivals.com ranks Kindle, who plans to enroll at Texas next month, as the state's top recruit and No. 3 in the nation.
Morgan made 111 tackles (20 for losses), 10 sacks and forced seven fumbles. Morgan (6-4, 200) , Rivals.com's No. 6 recruit in the state, has not committed to a college.
Stafford passed for 4,013 yards and 38 touchdowns to lead Highland Park to the Class 4A Division I title, the program's first state championship in 48 years. Rivals.com ranks Stafford as the nation's top quarterback recruit. He has orally committed to Georgia and plans to enroll next week.
Webb, another Texas recruit, allowed only one sack this season. He has tremendous quickness considering his 6-8, 285-pound frame.
