Whoever didnt go to the Celebration.
You missed one hell of a time. The fans were rowdy and loud. Almost the entire lower level was full.
I just got home... and the best part of the night, Justin Blalock announced he was staying for his senior year.
What a great night, capped off by Vince running around the stadium saying thanks to the fans.
It was a great night.

Most of the night's speakers reminded me of a cavalcade of drunken groomsmen giving their off-the-cuff toasts at a rehearsal dinner. If Rick Perry wasn't drunk, he should have been. And what's up with Kay Bailey and the "our team doesn't have swagger" comment. Tell me her speech writer didn't get the axe after that one. Credit Bill Little for totally shooting her wheels off with the "I don't know a Texan without swagger" rebuttal immediately following Kay's speech.
And speaking of Bill Little, what was up with the "can you smell what the rock is cooking" impersonation at the beginning of the show. I kept waiting for him to grab the mic and say, "who does #2 work for?"
Not to rain on the #1 parade, but I didn't see the need for all the verbal gymnastics or clueless politicians or even outgoing presidents, just let Vince and Mack do their thing. That's who the fans came to see anyway. Add in a high-light reel with some kick-ass theme music and a few fireworks and you've got yourself a winner.
I do give props to the organizers for recreating the post game Rose Bowl celebration with the confetti and such. Now that was a great idea and probably well worth the trip. I just expected more from the presenters...it wasn't another Friar's Club Roast, it was the National f'ing Championship celebration.

Couldn't Agree More
I couldn't agree more. I didn't go to the event but watched instead on News 8. Bill Little has given years of service to the university and should be respected tons, but the years have passed him by. James Udoff was not sober. And Rick Perry and Kay Bailey were just awful. Mack was good but I don't think he needs to give credit to the high school coaches every time he speaks. HS coaches are good but Mack and his staff developed these guys into champions. The nod to Royal was appropriate though. VY and Mack were entertaining. VY's lap around the stadium was a perfect way to say goodbye. I don't know if there were more highlights, provided by GSD&M and Roy Spence (why was he on the stage?), but the forty five seconds of highlights they showed on News 8 were weak. We were undefeated and scored more points, blocked more kicks, and made more big plays than any other team in college football last year. All they showed was portions of the final Rose Bowl drive. I was disappointed.

VY beats the G'vner
- 1/4 cheers to 3/4 boos when Perry the Aggie was introduced - I almost felt sorry for the poor guy but like a good politician he pretended not to notice and just started talking.
- In mid-sentence during Perry's speech, the camera showing on the big screen cut to Vince for about 2 seconds, and the roar that went up from the crowd was immediate and HUGE!!! I don't know if Perry had another view of the screen, but he certainly couldn't see the big screen behind him, and must have been startled to hear the cheers all of a sudden. Again, like the good politician, he pretended not to hear and kept on talking. At least he didn't think it was for him.
