Lovely
Two keys to this one, huh?
- Colt was still hurting. Clearly. Definitely not ready to come back today, even before the final blow that knocked him out of the game. Without knowing any of the medical information, it sure looks like he wasn't ready - his throws were -well- off all day. From the get-go. Prayers with Colt for his health.
F this.

"Way to stay classy aTm"?
Wow! Come on. The team did a great job this year and performed better than expected at times, and unimaginably bad at times. But their still our 'Horns and we still support them. Good, bad, and ugly. Of which, this game was 2 of those.

Look
For the record, I am absolutely in your corner about being embarrased. I was firmly in the camp of Texas would blow out KSU and a&m. Well, I'm eating massive amounts of crow now. I have to find a way to sell my Big XII Championship tickets and cancel a great weekend.
The way you represented your thoughts was that this years team was horrible and it was all for naught. I'm just saying it wasn't that bad.

Perfectly reasonable
I just think, as Longhorn fans, we need to talk each other down from the ledge right now. Call it my humane act for today. The dogs are gettin' kicked when I get home.

We didnt execute on either side of the ball.

What were the coaches and trainers thinking?
Best case scenerio: OU wins, goes to Championship game, and we get as low an oppenent from the Pac-10 or SEC in the holiday or Cotton bowl. Hell, I'd rather see us in the Alamo bowl with as little publicity as possible now.

Question
However, his injury probably puts him out for the rest of the season -- and besides the physical healing, the mental setback will be enormous. Not only were his throws off, but he played timid and was afraid to run the ball. This would make any QB shaky when they return.
Does this open up the QB competition?
It really makes me sick, because Texas will essentially be starting over next season with a new QB (if true).
I guess this is why Snead needs to hang around and see what happens.
by EYESofBEVO on Nov 24, 2006 2:35 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
doubt it
Plus Snead has shown nothing this year. He has been outright terrible.
by BrooklynHorn on Nov 24, 2006 2:38 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
True
From what others have said, Harris is a stud duck and they have two incoming stars.
I think given another year Snead could be pretty decent, but who knows. His passes are like Favre with blinders on. (not good)
When Colt returns he will be under intense scrutiny. Who knows how long this injury takes to heal. What if he can't play in the spring? Suddenly someone gets a leg up.

While that offensive pass interference was outrageous, no one forced that interception the following play. You guys lost.

On the other hand, had the booth reviewed the Vince kneel down, it still would have been 1st and goal. How you feeling about stopping them inside the 5? Game changing? No.

Oh Com'n Now...
I probably shouldn't have brought up a specific example, my mistake. Derisive. But the comment was directed towards those who would in the same breath blame the loss on the officials and call aTm the classless team. That point remains valid.
I'll leave the specific comments on the RB untouched.

You can't challenge
The current system is still dog crap. The officials today were just flat out terrible. There were some calls and non-calls that left me speachless.
That missed face mask on Sweed the ref looked the other way and made a deliberate attempt to avoid calling the penalty.

by the other Andrew on Nov 24, 2006 4:01 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
They came together and
They decided to keep their eyes closed when ever Sweed is catching a pass to avoid any more controversial calls, so they missed the blatant face mask.
by EYESofBEVO on Nov 24, 2006 4:05 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It looked as if we just didn't want it as much...
The refs completely blew that BS pass interference and that changed the tone of the game as we would have been up at half. It was not an insignificant call. But we still should have stopped the option and won.
This is a terrible loss.

Classy is
Give credit where credit is due - both K-State and TAMU beat UT. Your QB was hurt and should have pulled himself from the game. Clearly he was not ready.
As for cheap shots, this is college football, not ballet. The first hit needed a flag thrown, it was and we all move on. Aggie's back was turned away from the ball and he took a hit on the QB. I'm sure if kansashornfan had a chance to hit me, he'd do it - regardless of whether the play was over or not.
The last hit was hard, but clean. That is college football.
The refs didn't lose the game - A&M won it.
Classy is wishing your in-state rival good luck in the bowl game. Good luck horns!

Class
I feel your pain, dude. You lost and you are in Kansas.
That kind of hatred is cool - I don't care for horns around thanksgiving, but I'd never wish ill on you.
Don't worry, guy. I agree with you that Vince was the glue of last year's team, but I wouldn't be upset with how well UT played this year. It's hard to repeat - impossible when your stud leaves after his junior year.

Well said agspace!! Kudos to you!!!
I realize that some of the things that I say are harsh and not really something that ever needs to be said. I tend to be really hard on the teams that I like and my expectations for performance are way too high.
I read some of the things I say and shake my head in disbelief. Its really not who I am and I would never say those things in real life.
I wish every team in the Big 12 the best of luck and I hope that this bowl season can garner some respect for the entire conference. The negative me is no more and I will support my team to the fullest regardless of my disappointment. Good luck to everyone out there and may the best teams win.

Last hit was clean?
by OBdoc on Nov 26, 2006 1:58 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
last hit
The first hit was flagrant - not the last one.
As for kicking players off the team, you don't want to go there, ricky Williams and the guy who was riding around in a car with pot and a loaded 9mm.
The first hit was called - the second (last) hit was not. It's football, not flag football.
I appreciate your passion, but put some thought into your comments first.

Quit crying, girl?
Lastly, as the Aggies are so good at saying, wait until next year. (Or wait until basketball)
by OBdoc on Nov 27, 2006 7:56 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Girl
In my opinion, OB, the second hit on Colt was not dirty. The first was penalized appropriately and I don't condone that action on the field. the second hit was hard and might have been called, but you would have heard the cry of "hometowning" if they did flag the AM defender.
Terel Brown - I begin to question a person's decision making when they hang with a shady crowd. I don't believe for one instance that TB did not know that there was (1)weed in the car and (2) a loaded 9mm - cripes it was in his lap. Yes the LEGAL charges were dropped, but do you really want your team behaving like that? I give Mack credit for kicking Ramonce off the team after last year's fiasco. Bottom line - UT has enough people in the pipeline to win properly - you have proved it. Behaviour like that should not be tolerated - from the top down. If Kellen Heard (Aggie #1) does not shape up, I will expect him to be removed from the team.
The Ricky Williams rant is better off left out.
Again, my apologies for my girl comment.

One Question for Horns Fan
by realistic on Nov 26, 2006 8:32 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Um
Further, I thought so -during- the game; not just in hindsight.
I'll say this: Colt's injury cost the Horns at least one game, and probably two. I have zero doubt in my mind that Texas wins AT LEAST one of the two final games if he never gets hurt at K-State after the first drive.
A&M gets credit for their game plan, but they were damn fortunate Texas' quarterback was not himself. If he is, 12 points doesn't beat Texas. Period.
