Lovely

Two keys to this one, huh?

  1. Colt was still hurting. Clearly. Definitely not ready to come back today, even before the final blow that knocked him out of the game. Without knowing any of the medical information, it sure looks like he wasn't ready - his throws were -well- off all day. From the get-go.  Prayers with Colt for his health.

F this.

Prayers for Colt is right
He gave us some great moments this year. Hey, we beat OU 2 years runnin now.  It is aparent that our team lost interest in the season after the K-State loss.

screw it
Way to stay classy aTm. What else would we expect from those fucking asshole bitches. They are still second rate and they will always be. I dont even want OSU to win because we dont deserve to play for the Big 12 champ. We would get embarrassed by Nebraska. Lets take a month off and maybe play a cupcake team and slaughter them. We dont deserve to play a good team right now. FUCK THIS SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Way to stay classy aTm"?
"FUCK THIS SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Wow!  Come on.  The team did a great job this year and performed better than expected at times, and unimaginably bad at times.  But their still our 'Horns and we still support them.  Good, bad, and ugly.  Of which, this game was 2 of those.

If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

I was referring to aTm
I was referring to the late hits on Colt. And I dont think losing back to back games to unranked opponents is something that is excusable. They have sucked and dont deserve to get rewarded for their poor play.

by kansashornsfan on Nov 24, 2006 2:53 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I never said reward them
I'm just pointing out that you are insinuating that a&m was classless (which I'm not arguing), then said "FUCK THIS SEASON!!!!"  How is that staying classy?  We're still 'Horns fans and will remain so until we die.  At least most of us will...
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

I agree with you
I will die a Longhorns but I have a right to voice my  opinion whether the team plays good or bad. I have the balls to rip my beloved team when they play poorly and look disinterested against clearly inferior opponents. I have high standards and I expect them to win every game and losing to anyone other than OU in the Big 12 is embarrassing. Dont get on me for saying what everyone is thinking.

by kansashornsfan on Nov 24, 2006 2:58 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Look
I'm not saying you don't have the right to voice displeasure with the way they played the last couple of games (and at times throughout the season).  The fact is, say whatever you like.  But to say "FUCK THIS SEASON!!!" is probably not the best way to achieve the desired context.

For the record, I am absolutely in your corner about being embarrased.  I was firmly in the camp of Texas would blow out KSU and a&m.  Well, I'm eating massive amounts of crow now.  I have to find a way to sell my Big XII Championship tickets and cancel a great weekend.

The way you represented your thoughts was that this years team was horrible and it was all for naught.  I'm just saying it wasn't that bad.

If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

im at a loss

Perfectly reasonable
My hatred for a&m, and my utter disgust at this loss agree with you.

I just think, as Longhorn fans, we need to talk each other down from the ledge right now.  Call it my humane act for today.  The dogs are gettin' kicked when I get home.

As much as I hate refs
we had ample opportunities to make up for shitty calls.

We didnt execute on either side of the ball.

by the other Andrew on Nov 24, 2006 2:32 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

What were the coaches and trainers thinking?
It was obvious from the first pass that Colt was still hurt.  Snead did a great job for us comming in at KState, it wasn't him putting the ball on the carpet and not covering and being faked out of his jock on option passes.  Now, we'd be lucky to see Colt at 2-a-days in the fall.

Best case scenerio: OU wins, goes to Championship game, and we get as low an oppenent from the Pac-10 or SEC in the holiday or Cotton bowl.  Hell, I'd rather see us in the Alamo bowl with as little publicity as possible now.

by Hornbud on Nov 24, 2006 2:34 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Question
I would love more than anything for Colt to bounce back from this and play like the old Colt we all know and root for.

However, his injury probably puts him out for the rest of the season -- and besides the physical healing, the mental setback will be enormous. Not only were his throws off, but he played timid and was afraid to run the ball. This would make any QB shaky when they return.

Does this open up the QB competition?

It really makes me sick, because Texas will essentially be starting over next season with a new QB (if true).

I guess this is why Snead needs to hang around and see what happens.

Cats and dogs sleeping together.

by EYESofBEVO on Nov 24, 2006 2:35 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

doubt it
Colt has shown no evidence of mental problems this year.  If he recovers physically this spring, the job's his.

Plus Snead has shown nothing this year.  He has been outright terrible.

by BrooklynHorn on Nov 24, 2006 2:38 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

True
but you assume the only option is Snead.

From what others have said, Harris is a stud duck and they have two incoming stars.

I think given another year Snead could be pretty decent, but who knows. His passes are like Favre with blinders on. (not good)

When Colt returns he will be under intense scrutiny. Who knows how long this injury takes to heal. What if he can't play in the spring? Suddenly someone gets a leg up.

While that offensive pass interference was outrageous, no one forced that interception the following play. You guys lost.

I thought we settled this?
Kelson also intercepted Leinart and the replay officials did not review it.  That led to 7 points for USC.

On the other hand, had the booth reviewed the Vince kneel down, it still would have been 1st and goal.  How you feeling about stopping them inside the 5?  Game changing?  No.

Doesn't UCLA have a site you can troll?

...I grew up a UT fan, I'm in the UT system as a student right now (if not in Austin), and I'm making a very valid point. Hardly trolling.

I probably shouldn't have brought up a specific example, my mistake. Derisive. But the comment was directed towards those who would in the same breath blame the loss on the officials and call aTm the classless team. That point remains valid.

I'll leave the specific comments on the RB untouched.

you've got to be kidding me
no team gets the calls like USC.  Every one of those close games you've had over the past 4 years (nearly all of which you should have lost - ask Nebraska and Miami what a real dynasty looks like) you benefited from several bad calls going your way.  Your LA location got you Michael Jordan status with the refs, so I don't want to hear it.  That's the last thing you should be talking about.

last week I got ripped for saying our horns had no fight. yes, it was all vince. seems Mack has resorted to his old ways, being arrogant, It would be nice if he would get in the players ass, gene c. ass, and the offensive cor. ass. We play with no heart,no fight, great job coaches,it still is up to you to get the players ready to go.ATM, you have got to be kidding me,whats even worse is that my friend is a razorback and even they play with more pride than we do. Colt horrible game, if your hurt don't fucking play. guess coach didn't notice.special thanks go out to terrel brown, romance taylor, and who the fuck is Derry,we've got a long way to go.

by diddy on Nov 24, 2006 3:20 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

could UT have challenged the call?
This was never mentioned on TV--in fact I was amazed how little they talked at all about that bad interference call. Was this a call that Brown could have challenged? I was yelling at my teevee: CHALLENGE! CHALLENGE!

I guess this is the make up for OU's Oregon "loss."

by bobmcbob on Nov 24, 2006 3:39 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

You can't challenge
a penalty. If that was allowed it would be total chaos with replay booth officials scouting for penalties on every play.

The current system is still dog crap. The officials today were just flat out terrible. There were some calls and non-calls that left me speachless.
That missed face mask on Sweed the ref looked the other way and made a deliberate attempt to avoid calling the penalty.

Cats and dogs sleeping together.

by EYESofBEVO on Nov 24, 2006 3:44 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

No unfortunately not....
A pass interference call either offensive or defensive is not a reviewable or challengeable call, its a judgement call by the officials on the field.  I had to work so I didnt see the call but from the pictures on the web it looks like the DB was still able to "molest" Sweed as he fell in the Endzone so i dont think it was too bad of interference on Sweeds part.  The call was probably more of just the refs trying to calm the 2 teams down and keep the physical play in check.  Officials do that in a big heated rivarly if the players are being very physical.  Its like the officials build the game up in their mind that people are going to be pushing and shoving (they were by the way) and call a few borderline calls to calm things down.

by lalonghorn on Nov 24, 2006 5:21 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

once again on the bad call...
I'm being dense here. Does that mean the refs can't review and overturn the call themselves? That was an amazingly bad call.

by bobmcbob on Nov 24, 2006 3:58 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

They can discuss it
Before calling it and come to a consensus, but once the call is made, it's final.  They cannot use the benefit of replay to aide their call.  If they miss it, it is just missed.
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

by GoHorns on Nov 24, 2006 4:01 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

definitely not reviewable...
but they can come together as a group immediately following to make sure everyone agrees on the call.

by the other Andrew on Nov 24, 2006 4:01 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

They came together and
agreed they didn't see anything, so they let the OPI stand.

They decided to keep their eyes closed when ever Sweed is catching a pass to avoid any more controversial calls, so they missed the blatant face mask.

It looked as if we just didn't want it as much...
This is indeed embarrasing. My perception is that this loss resulted from a HUGE letdown as a result of the KSU loss. They were NOT ready to play in the first half. The real Horns came out in the third quarter, but the defense could not stop that last drive. They were not ready for the option- that is clear. There were way too many holes and missed tackles. How could TAMU go 5/5 on third down, and I think each time they ran the option? We had a terrible defensive plan. McGee CANNOT pass. We should have been up on the line and forced him to pass. To make matters worse, they pulled two cheap shots on McCoy. That was classless- especially the first one, which occurred as he was TAKING OFF HIS HELMET! Now we have to listen to them for one whole year!
The refs completely blew that BS pass interference and that changed the tone of the game as we would have been up at half. It was not an insignificant call. But we still should have stopped the option and won.
This is a terrible loss.

wakeup
our coaching staff is terrible.even i can run the option against this defensive scheme. it is freakin embarrassing watching us get pushed around like, and the coaching staff continue to stand on the sidelines with their fingers up their asses. do something, anything! this football program is exactly the same as it was before vince came, mediorcre.thank you V.Y.Mac,you are officially back on the chopping block.he ultimately has the responsibility for the way this team coaches and plays.thats what a headcoach does, takes the heat for a ridiculous losses like this. way to go horns, and please next year don't give any of our players anymore weed, guns, etc.maybe thats why we look tired we're fuckin getting high before the game, thats the only logical thing i can think of,and after today i hope thats what was going on.

Im pretty sure that I would be more positive if I actually had a reason to be. This year has given me no reason to be positive. We have not had an impressive win all year and our losses have been devastating.

Classy is
turning on your team when they lose a close game and blaming everyone for your loss.

Give credit where credit is due - both K-State and TAMU beat UT.  Your QB was hurt and should have pulled himself from the game.  Clearly he was not ready.

As for cheap shots, this is college football, not ballet.  The first hit needed a flag thrown, it was and we all move on.  Aggie's back was turned away from the ball and he took a hit on the QB.  I'm sure if kansashornfan had a chance to hit me, he'd do it - regardless of whether the play was over or not.

The last hit was hard, but clean.  That is college football.

The refs didn't lose the game - A&M won it.

Classy is wishing your in-state rival good luck in the bowl game.  Good luck horns!

Class
and it's hard to show it when you lose.

I feel your pain, dude.  You lost and you are in Kansas.

That kind of hatred is cool - I don't care for horns around thanksgiving, but I'd never wish ill on you.

Don't worry, guy.  I agree with you that Vince was the glue of last year's team, but I wouldn't be upset with how well UT played this year.  It's hard to repeat - impossible when your stud leaves after his junior year.

by agspace on Nov 25, 2006 5:19 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Well said agspace!! Kudos to you!!!
Yeah I agree with you. It does suck to be a Horns fan and live in Kansas. That Kstate loss was especially painful because I have to hear about almost every day.

I realize that some of the things that I say are harsh and not really something that ever needs to be said. I tend to be really hard on the teams that I like and my expectations for performance are way too high.

I read some of the things I say and shake my head in disbelief. Its really not who I am and I would never say those things in real life.

I wish every team in the Big 12 the best of luck and I hope that this bowl season can garner some respect for the entire conference. The negative me is no more and I will support my team to the fullest regardless of my disappointment. Good luck  to everyone out there and may the best teams win.

Is that why the player was thrown out of the game?  For a clean hit?  By the way, the Houston Chronicle says that was that player's second flagrant foul this year.  How many before you are thrown off the team?

last hit
was clean.  Quit crying, girl.

The first hit was flagrant - not the last one.

As for kicking players off the team, you don't want to go there, ricky Williams and the guy who was riding around in a car with pot and a loaded 9mm.

The first hit was called - the second (last) hit was not.  It's football, not flag football.

I appreciate your passion, but put some thought into your comments first.

by agspace on Nov 26, 2006 9:21 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Quit crying, girl?
First off, the smart comment was uncalled for.  If you want to insult us, at least go onto your own website, not ours.  Second, I stand corrected.  I'll admit I couldn't watch the last few seconds of the game because I had a sick patient to see, and I didn't realize there were two shots at McCoy in the last minute or so of the game.  Third, regarding the Terrel Brown incident, he was suspended for the Ohio State (and cost us dearly), even though all legal charges were dropped.  As far as Ricky Williams goes, I talked to the father of one of the UT coaches at the time and he said surprisingly they had no problem with Ricky while he was at UT.
Lastly, as the Aggies are so good at saying, wait until next year.  (Or wait until basketball)

Girl
My apologies.  You caught me in a weak moment.  You are right, I should show more respect here in your den.  Please accept my sincere apology.

In my opinion, OB, the second hit on Colt was not dirty.  The first was penalized appropriately and I don't condone that action on the field.  the second hit was hard and might have been called, but you would have heard the cry of "hometowning" if they did flag the AM defender.

Terel Brown - I begin to question a person's decision making when they hang with a shady crowd.  I don't believe for one instance that TB did not know that there was (1)weed in the car and (2) a loaded 9mm - cripes it was in his lap.  Yes the LEGAL charges were dropped, but do you really want your team behaving like that?  I give Mack credit for kicking Ramonce off the team after last year's fiasco.  Bottom line - UT has enough people in the pipeline to win properly - you have proved it.  Behaviour like that should not be tolerated - from the top down.  If Kellen Heard (Aggie #1) does not shape up, I will expect him to be removed from the team.

The Ricky Williams rant is better off left out.

Again, my apologies for my girl comment.

One Question for Horns Fan
I thought the coaches said they would not start Colt unless he was 100 %?  Did he look off until after the first "brilliant drive"?

by realistic on Nov 26, 2006 8:32 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Um
Read the offensive review.  It's pretty clear that I think he looked off before halftime.  Not sure what "brilliant drive" you're referring to.

Further, I thought so -during- the game; not just in hindsight.

I'll say this: Colt's injury cost the Horns at least one game, and probably two. I have zero doubt in my mind that Texas wins AT LEAST one of the two final games if he never gets hurt at K-State after the first drive.

A&M gets credit for their game plan, but they were damn fortunate Texas' quarterback was not himself. If he is, 12 points doesn't beat Texas. Period.
