Big 12 killing us
I am frequently critical of UL and WVa, as the only currently ranked teams they have played hitherto are each other.
BUT, as I look at the human polls, it is possible that the only team we will have beaten that will be ranked at season's end is OU. In other words, there is a legitimate chance that Nebraska, Missouri (even assuming we play them in the championship game), and A&M all finish the regular season out of the rankings.
Accordingly, two questions:
- even if we win out, will our SoS allow us to play for the MNC?
- BCS methodology aside, even if we win out do we deserve the MNC shot above a one loss team from the Pac 10, Big 10, or SEC?

- I think Louisville and Florida have to lose again. Florida's SOS is so much better than ours that so far, it's overcome our superior human poll position. Louisville (fairly or not) is probably going to be ranked ahead of us as long as they're undefeated.
- Resume-wise, I don't think we deserve it more than Florida or maybe even Cal (if they win out). But in terms of who the best 1-loss team is, I think Texas could beat any one-loss team in the country right now.

respect!
- I am, of course, happy we are ranked third: an impressive win was crucial for us last Saturday, as a small margin of victory over OSU may have enabled UL to edge us out. . . . I think this result is a combination of lazy voters who simply vote winners in the same relative position (i.e., the inertia effect) and thoughtful voters who find it immoral to vote UL as the third best team in the country -- not that WVa deserved it.
- Unfortunately, I agree completely with BZ -- although Florida's win over Tennessee is looking slightly less impressive given the other UT's loss to LSU.
- Regarding 2B's comment, it is a sad day when we need to decide whether to cheer for A&M or OU. . . . Nonetheless, we are undoudtedly hurt by no longer having the opportunity to beat a one-loss A&M and Missouri, as our SoS will obviously suffer from their losses.
