Aggies in the Holiday Bowl
As a loyal Big XII'er I truly want to see all our teams, and especially the Texas teams in the Southern Div., do well. However not everyone else feels that way. Outside of the Oklahoma game, this is the most interseting Big XII game I see so I was wondering how the BON faithful are feeling. Try not to think of the spuds like Brazos when responding...remember the better the rest of the conf does improves our chances when we get to conf play next year, and kills the entire 'how tough was your non-conf schedule' argument!

Clarify...
That being said, I think the aggies will win in a close one. They have too much power with their rush attack for Cal to stop them. Cal will understand what old school football means after this game. This ain't the finese offenses of the Pac-10.

Important for the Horns 2007 SOS
I never thought bowl games mattered that much, but you can't tell me all the hype surrounding the Big East this year didn't have something to do with the 2005 bowl games. WVU's win over Georgia made the Big East look legit in the eyes of the voters.
And seeing how UT's SOS will solely depend on the overall strength of the Big XII conference next year, we need as many of the teams we play to go into next season ranked highly whether it's deserved or not.
Then again, I am human and a diehard Longhorn fan, so I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd shed a tear if the Aggies and Sooners got beaten.

so we got a pre-kickoff thought from you afterall!
I read your 12/19 post on your own blog and found it to be about the most accurate and well thought out summary of how I have felt since sometime after the K. State came, and most certainly after the Aggie loss...I too was numb to the point of (dare I say it!) not giving a hoot and holler about ANY football for awhile. That kind of numbness is saying alot since I went to UT when we bit hard in football, and you'd think I could muster a little "yeah 9-3 is still a decent year..." but it just didn't ever come.
That is until today when the combination of a potentially decent spate of games over the next 4-5 days was combined with little or nothing to do at work, and a dash of Brazos' absence from our boards for a few days, and BAM! I have been given me new life!!! I hope you feel the same 54b...
Final thought, I DO agree that the Ags (and Neb, K.State, and maybe even Baylor) are on the rise; AND I still think we need to encourage their continued success as it is the ONLY way to make the rest of the nation respect us when we go 10-2, 11-1, or 12-0. We need a really resurgent Aggie team to be in place so that when we go exact revenge next year in their house it will mean something beyond the rekindling of an age old rivalry.
Have a good trip to SA 54b, you're a good man and a better fan!

Appreciate the thoughts
I don't call myself a footballaholic for nothing. I'll cry like a baby and swear up and down that I'm done, but you always come back to college football. There's definitely a thin line between passion and insanity (and beer only makes it blurier), but I figure you can't be a true fan unless you stradle that line from time to time.
And to be honest, I haven't watched an entire bowl game yet (mostly because they've all sucked), but I've seen parts of all of them, even the Directional Bowl (Central somebody vs. Middle somebody) from the other night. And that's saying a lot considering I don't bet on college football.
But just like you and most BON readers, I'll be glued to all 3 games today, in fact one starts in about an hour. It's good times and despite how bad I felt about the Horns the last month, part of me will always realize that the sun will come up tomorrow, there's always next season, and probably most importanly, that season is 8 LONG MONTHS FROM NOW!!! Better get your fix while you can.
Lastly, thank you vote of fan confidence. A few commentary readers emailed me after the 12/19 post and accused me of being way too negative and one called me a traitor. (Glad I don't post my real name.) But I think what they're really saying is "the truth hurts and it really sucks when you can't do anything about it." But would we love college football this much if we could.
Later.

I want them to lose
The only reason: Dick heads like Brazos. They're everywhere when they win, but only in their own little burroughs when their losing. I just don't want to hear all the crap about how a&m is the best football program in the entire country having just beaten a mighty PAC 10 school.
Whatever.

Much like "mothers in law" or "attorneys general" the noun, or "head noun" will become the plural as opposed to the adjective.
remember: grammar smack is seen as a last resort and usually isn't taken seriously when you dont have perfect grammar yourself.

It doesnt matter much to me...
or
A&M wins and keeps the Big XII rolling for the Conference Bowl Cup.
Either way, I would like Kellen Heard to get a VICIOUS headknocking from Marshawn Lynch, before or after the whistle.

Other than that, I want the rest of Big 12 teams to win their bowls games. Simply becuz, I dont want my conference goes to the tank.

I'm rooting for Mizzou & Tech to win today; Horns spanks Hawkeye tomorrow & corn hole bearly bypass Aurburn.

yea, PB
1 thing I just don't understand why on earth their OC didn't let Temple to run more at their final drive when he had been running the ball so good. Why would they chose to throw at their last 2 down & not let the clock keep running? That's baffled me.
When OC made that kind of critical error, it definitely had cost the game regardless how good the passing and running game they had in the second half.
Just like GD on KS game, he made 2 critical errors to cost our chance to defend our champion.
- He failed to realize CM is not as huskier as VY who can absorb the DL pounding. If GD really study all the players' measurement, he should not allow CM to pound the ball. When 1 yard short that kind of pounding, GD should assign the full back like Chris Ogbonnaya to go for it.
- when we cant able to convert on 3&1 at the very beginning of the game, what's wrong with the field goal try? What made GD that desperated to make to the TD at the VERY BEGINNING of the game? That's baffled me. We were not behind; it was 0-0 and at the very beginning of the game. Why not just put some pt on the board by kicking the field goal? Why we had to go for the 4&1?
sorry, PB. I should not hi-jack this thread to vent my disappointment & to compare our lost to KS and Mizzou lost. But when I saw the way Mizzou had lost their game, it just remind me how critical OC play calling can cost their game. I am no GD basher, to be fair with him, he indeed done a good job on Snead to try to come back to win that game but sometimes his critical errors are really drives me friggin... oh well.
To the bright side, I am glad another Big 12 team won their bowl game. I am no fan of Tech but the way they can came from behind to win the game, Tech fans should be very proud to themselves. After I watched the first half. I though it will be another Big 12 team get their ass whoop. 35-7 at the half.
But I am glad that they can hang on & came back to win. The way they played tonight, they should be very proud of themselves. It will be interesting game to watch when they visit Austin next yr.
Damn, all the Big 12 teams only won 2 out of 8 bowls so far. That's not looking good for our conference next season.
