Best Player in the Country

John Brantley was just named the Gatorade Player of the Year!  What a stud.

From Rivals.com:

"Brantley ended his high school career completing 61.4 percent of his passes and throwing for 6,802 yards with 99 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions."

I'm waiting...
...for ESPN to declare this a travesty. How could Jimmy "Cheddar Bob" Clausen not be ranked as the top high school -- check that -- the top quarterback ever. Clausen will lead Notre Dame to five national titles in the three years he'll be there, get drafted first overall by the Oakland Raiders, immediately retire and have a bust in Canton within five minutes.

I think you are confused
While Clausen is ultra-talented - no doubt - the awards and accolades of which you speak are most certainly going to none other than JOSH FREEMAN!!!

Makes Me Nervous
I wanted Clausen to win it, just so some of the attention Brantley has been getting could be deflected back to Jimmy.  Less of a worry now that OU has stolen their QB recruit for next year, but I'm still a tiny bit worried about Spurrier lurking.

This Weekend Is Big
"With the season ending this weekend, Brantley will turn his sights to Texas. He makes an official visit to Austin next weekend (Dec. 8-10). He will come to Texas alone, so it's an important visit and could make the final all-important impression."

Brantley's team lost in the state championship game last Saturday.  Now Mack gets his best chance to make a good impression on Brantley and lock him up.  Maybe he should take JB to Gregory to watch the Gazelles kick some Badger Butt!  Those lycra shorts should do the trick, dontcha think PB?
