What does it take to break even on a stadium? A UT-OU idea.

So I'm trying to think of some out-of-the-box ideas for the Texas-OU game.  This game has only a couple more years left at the current Cotton Bowl in Dallas.  Obviously it's not set in stone, but the wheels have been in motion for a while.

Most college stadiums are "open" for 5 to 6 days a year, and my guess is with tv, concessions, ticket sales, hotels, parking, etc, they break even.

The city of Dallas dropped the ball when they let Jerry World wander off to Arlington.

What I'm wondering is, could UT and OU (in a joint venture) co-build a second stadium at the fair park in order to keep the game there.  It would be like owning a second home in Breckenridge, using it once a year, then renting it out the rest of the time.  Is this feasible?

They would only need a few more games to fill out their schedule.  Obviously the Cotton Bowl game could play there.  And hopefully it can become a fifth BCS game with a fancier stadium.  The Big 12 Title game could be there every couple of years.  Tech, A&M, Ok State, TCU, SMU, Tulsa and UNT are all within striking distance and could play there.

So for the RRS, the "home" team reaps the gate receipts (or maybe they split it, I dont know).  But this seems doable.  It's like a time share.

Am I crazy?
