As we get ready to send Mike Williams on his way after his brief and strange stay in Austin, the void on the frontcourt looms for Texas to fill. Some good news out of Houston yesterday, as Longhorn signee Dexter Pittman took home MVP honors for the Black team in the area Black-White All Star game. From Rivals:
Future Texas Longhorn Dexter Pittman took home MVP honors for the black team in his final high school game. Pittman scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots in the game. He brought the crowd to their feet first with a spinning, powerful dunk on 7-2 center Thabeet. It would be the first of four powerful dunks for the 6-10, 350-pound center.
Pittman also showed nifty footwork on a couple of baseline spin moves and a powerful spin move and fall away seven footer while being fouled in the fourth quarter. Pittman finished the three-point play from the free throw line. He converted nine of 13 from the field and two of four from the foul line.
I like him already.
