Sanchez not charged

USC freshman QB Mark Sanchez will not be charged with sexual assault the LA Times reported today. It looks like he still faces disciplinary action for underage drinking and using a fake ID.  I still stand by my position that he should be suspended for the year for the fake ID alone.

The Los Angeles DA's office sighted insufficient evidence.

suspended for a year!?

No I haven't...
Please understand my background is military based and it's drilled into us very early about image and not making the unit look bad. So I see it differently. And maybe that view is too harsh, some habits are hard to break.

I just think his actions were selfish. Given the opportunity to play college sports, players will be under closer scrutiny. They are the image of the school not some guy from the engineering dept. and any bad acts can hurt the team.

agree that bad acts can hurt a team (or unit)
but I think the non-rival public can differentiate between a true "bad act" and something that's pretty harmless like a fake i.d. or a minor in possession.

Rivals will consistently bring that kind of stuff up as "more evidence of a corrupt program."  But in the end, cooler heads will prevail and realize college kids do that sort of thing.

Rivals
I'm admittedly biased, but I don't think it's a terrible stretch to suggest that SC has some discipline issues, though I wouldn't necessarily use the word corrupt.  That said, I promise to never criticize a college kid for having a fake ID, apart from saying that kids in the spotlight should use better judgment than to be too cavalier, and that coaches shouldn't knowingly turn a blind eye when the kids are taking too many liberties.

While I agree
The fake ID is not a huge problem, how can you ignore the sheer stupidity of a kid on "THE" college program (as decided by ESPN last year), vying for the QB position using a fake ID?  Did he think he wouldn't be recognized?
