In news from another of the championship contending sports that doesn't get much ink on BON (or any other media outlet for that matter), the Texas Mens' Swimming Team yesterday brought an end to perennial champion Auburn's meet win streak.
"Top-ranked Texas ends four-time NCAA Champion Auburn's dual-meet win streak at 44 with a 130-113 victory Thursday over the third-ranked Tigers; the win comes six years to the day of Auburn's last defeat, a 136.5-103.5 loss at the hands of the Longhorns."
"No. 1 Texas (4-0) collected nine victories en route to a 130-113 victory over four-time defending NCAA Champion Auburn Thursday afternoon at Auburn's James E. Martin Aquatic Center. The Longhorns' victory ends the third-ranked Tigers' win streak at 44 dual meets, dating back exactly six years to Jan. 11, 2001, when Texas hung the last dual-meet loss on the Tigers."
Conversely, the Texas Womens' Swim Team lost to the same team. No. 12 Women's Swimming and Diving falls to No. 3 Auburn, 140-91...
The men are certainly the favorites to win the National Championship again this year, while the women should contend for a top 10 finish as they continue rebuilding under our new coach.
