Horns down=bad karma

After Iowa "scored" to make the game 20-3 Iowa, Tate gave the "horns down". The play was called back and he threw an interception on the next play. From that point on Texas outscored Iowa 23-10.

Shawn Bell Gave the "horns down" when Baylor went up 7 -0 but they ended up losing 63-31 (I think) two weeks later he hurt his knee and was out for the season.

In 2003 Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt Gave the "horns down" and Arkansas lost 3 of thier next 5 games. The next season The lost to Texas at home and went 5-6.

It seems the "horns down" sign has a pretty decent karmic payback.

some iowa fan gave me the horns down at the bar where i was watching the alamo bowl after we went down by 14 pts. i told him he just lost the game for his team. i don't think he understood why though.

The Horns Down hand gesture never bothered me that much. In my mind, it's really not that much different than our fans chanting OU Sucks 100 times a game.

But I figure if players can get a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty for taunting, then Tate should have been flagged for running around like a crack baby shooting the Horns down. He wasn't just celebrating what he thought was another TD pass, he was showing up the other team and giving the proverbial FU to the UT fans.

There's nothing anyone can do about fan behavior, but the players shouldn't have to put up with that shit on the field.

Drew Tate is a hothead

It's great to be passionate about the game, but he's just over the top. And the flip side of that passion is, when he's playing poorly, he pouts and rants at his teammates.

I agree with 54b, this should be added to the same category as taking off the helmet after a TD. Unsportsmanlike, indeed.
