Logo Lawsuit Article
Houston Chronicle article about the recent lawsuit between UT and that a&m clothing store.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/chronicle/4491417.html
noteworthy quote: "Mike Huddleston, Texas A&M's vice president for business development, said Texas A&M would likely have taken similar action if it faced the same scenario as UT.
"I'm just surprised it took them so long," Huddleston said."
so yeah, from a legal standpoint, it does seem justified, but so is Huddleston's surprise at the fact that it took so long to get it out there.

daily texan article
Of note is that yes, the trademark office denied his trademark application for the image UT is suing him over, but it did accept his trademark for a different design and UT is not suing him regarding that logo. Presumably, this will finally show aggies that it's not about the fact that it's just ANY sawed off horns logo that's being used. It's that it's OUR logo with sawed off horns.
as long as you don't break federal copyright law, UT isn't going to sue you.

as longhorns...
does the logo actually bother you? did seeing the logo last week - or last month or last year - anger you? or now do you only care because a lawsuit has finally been filed?

I find it amusing as much as anything

it doesn't bother me
but i of course respect UT's right to protect its trademark. so if the guy used a longhorn logo that wasn't UT's, there wouldn't be any problem at all. at least not for me.

Personally
I also find it funny to see upside down hookems when OU is playing Tulsa. Makes no sense. While I enjoy being on everyones mind all the time, it's borderline pyschotic. Scratch that. It is psychotic.
You see a lot of saw em off stickers and upside down longhorn logos on cars in College Station and Norman. That's normal. Whats not normal was the upsidedown longhorn logo on the Tahoe I saw out here in LA. That's just stupid.
Plus, it's well known that the second half of the phrase is "and the horns of the righteous shall be exalted" or somesuch.
