VY To Pro Bowl?

I heard a report on ESPN Radio / ESPN News on XM Radio earlier today that Philip Rivers injured his foot during the San Diego Charger's loss to the New England Patriots 2 weekends ago.  He's thinking of pulling out of the Pro Bowl.

If that's the case, isn't VY the First Alternate QB to go in his stead?

With all regards to Rivers, that would awesome if Vince gets to go.

Anyone else hear about this?

On second thought
He might be second alternate...  Tom Brady may be in front of him.

here's a matchup...
Romo (overrated) v. VY (ridiculously underrated)

not sure if it would happen or not, but just imagine sportsfans what that would be like?

The Pro Bowl is a notoriously lax game in terms of how complicated the defensive schemes are and the informal 'law' of little to no blitzing, since the O-lines have little practice time to get it together.  Could there be a better venue for our boy to showcase his skillz?

Now if we could just somehow get the network to force Merrill 'douche' Hodge to be a commentator in which he would be forced to say nice things about Vince cince there is so much dead air to fill in this kind of game!!!  ;-)

or if we could
get anyone to watch the game in general.

by kicker on Jan 23, 2007 4:17 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

of course. But
the Pro Bowl is indeed the least important of all Pro All star games.  I do enjoy the skills competition, though.

Are any of them really important?
I guess because the NHL and NBA are in the middle of the season, that there is the possibility of injury and MLB has forced some unimportance on their game.

MLB yeah. Home field.
Hockey though...mid season...that is ballsy.

by kicker on Jan 23, 2007 4:52 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely.
However, VY being a Rook and not really caring about whether the game means anything or not, and the vets just there to be in Hawaii, Vince could have a huge game for the minutes he plays.

Romo overrated?
Congrats on the dumbest post of the day. Just because your guys is underrated, doesn't mean the other guys is overrated. Vick going the past few years has made him overrated.

Hard for me to call the NFC's 3rd highest rated passer, 7th in the NFC in TDs, and conference's highest completion %.

Btw, the 7th place ranking in TDs comes after not starting the first 6 games of the season. Had he started the whole season, he was on pace to lead the NFC in TD passes.

Totally rediculous, yet almost expected from a college FB blog.

Fair Enough...
Two botched holds on field goals that lose two games in a row sure doesnt make you overrated, but it sure makes you something.
Hey Boise State fans, no pictures of crying OU kids on your fanblog ok?

Romo is overrated
it is not "rediculous".  He was exposed by the Saints in week, I believe 11 or 12, then after that he was an average, at best, QB.  Don't let your love for the Cowboys get in the way of your ability to view the obvious.  I know its hard.

Whoa there
As a Cowboys fan, I will admit Romo was, shall we say, a victim of the hype machine.  But while one can debate many things about VY, you cannot  really call him underrated.  AP Rookies of the Year who get the cover of ESPN Magazine while being heralded by seemingly every talking head (Hoge excluded) as the next big thing are not underrated.  Maybe he's doubted, and thus underrated, by a small number of folks, but I think the sports world in general has an abundance of respect for his skills.

my bad...not trying to slam Romo truly!
Apologies to Cowboy fans that felt I was too hard on Romo.  In truth I really enjoyed watching him ascend to starter and win a few games on pure emotion and guts, but in the last few games of the season opposing D's really were starting to get to him.  Since I'm not a Poke fan I don't know if there was some reason for it, but there were lots of poorly thrown balls and generally he was 'pressing' down the stretch.  The Tuna did his best to keep him grounded but hype in Dallas is what it is, and always will be I guess...I simply thought it was reaching overrated when I read somewhere that someone wanted Romo to be in the Cowboy Ring of Honor.  That is approaching dellusional in my humble opinion.

Likewise, by the time Vince proved that he could do exactly what he did in collge to my poor hometown Texans, he pretty much wasn't underestimated anymore (Douche excluded of course)

Mostly I think it could be a great venue for VY for all the other reasons I put out there and that was the focus of my post, not a Cowboy/Romo bash.  I'd have much preferred for them to advance especially since it may have kept Parcels in Dallas, I'm sad to see him leave.  Frankly Jones is only one babystep less crazy than Al Davis, but not half the pure football man that AD is.  He needs to let the coaches and GM's rebuild that team and stay in his fancy new suite in his fancy new stadium and count the billons he's gonna make.  Case in point, the website for 'Jerryland' talks about how the whole complex and the Cowboys are for the "people of Dallas" but the stadium is not in Dallas City limits because they refused to pony up the kind of free dough he thought they should have given him to keep the stadium in the Dallas area...

I'll watch the Pro Bowl if
someone special is playin. VY is special, so I'll watch the PB,hell so's Cedric and Nathen, which will be almost the only reason I'll watch most of the SB.

Belichik coaching AFC
The Pats lost in the AFC Championship game. I thought I've seen in the past, the coach of the game can choose to bring along any single player he wishes. Especially if there is a need for a replacement.

I seem to remember Andy Reid doing this once or twice. I'm not 100%, who really watches that thing anyway?

If it's true, though, wouldn't you think he'd choose to take Brady?

i'd tell belicheck to blow off
If I'm Brady.  Everyone knows Gisele hates Hawaii.  I'd stay in cozy winter boston and run amok all over my victoria's secret model buddy.  We need to get VY to date Beyonce or something to put Gisady (briselle?) to shame.  VYonce anyone?  I bet he wouldn't let her put a leash on him and not let him go to the pro bowl.  In other news, I definitely would though.
