DGib Starting for the Cavaliers?
http://kidcleveland.blogspot.com/2007/01/gibson-to-start-tonight.html
Ruh roh. Somebody better send the Cavaliers fans a video of Gibson playing point for the Horns last year (horrifying images of the black uniforms flashing through my mind). They might not be so excited...
And to avoid castigation, I noted last year that DGib wasn't the best point guard around. Speaking of which, Gibson played pretty well at point his freshman year but didn't get it done his sophomore year. AJ Abrams seemed to fill in well last year at PG (for a freshman anyway), but is clearly our SG this year. Is this a trend or coincidence?

Its hard to make sense of it
I'm not saying Gibson will start ringing up 50 points on people, but he could be solid.
The NBA is much more about athletes and size than it is fundamentals and consistancy. Just from observation, the PG positon especially relies more on athletics than in the college game. They need them to be able to penetrate and shoot.
D Gib will probably do ok -- and then get traded in the next attempt to cylce in help for James with better players.

Disagree
Marbury, Arenas, Parker, Bibby, Billups, Francis, etc. They would all be 2 gaurds in the college game.

Looks like the job is his for a while
Recommendation: The bulk of Gibson's playing-time before taking over the starting job on Tuesday had come at shooting guard, but coach Mike Brown appears committed to giving the rookie ample opportunity to grow into the point-guard role. Said Brown, "It wouldn't be fair for me to throw [Gibson] out there for a game or two, because he's going to have some bad games, he's a rookie. I'm going to give him time." Gibson scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers, with three rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes on Tuesday."
