Black Basketball Jerseys

I was reading the post about DGib and Kahuna said to Cleveland fans look up images of the black jerseys vs. Duke and the blowout.

It got me thinking why don't we have them anymore? I know it wasn't a classic look but they looked tight and sleek. Was it because we got blown out that Rick didn't choose to wear them again?

I don't know but we should bring them back for a couple of games a season.

It also got me thinking, when i read an article two years ago on SI.com and it was about VY and them preparing for the 2005 season. He was talking about how he wanted to keep the old school look we had in the first game vs. the Cajuns for the rest of the season. He also talked about persauding Mack to let them wear the black jerseys that the qbs wear in practice. You know the ones that they have at Oshmans oops "Sports Authority".

How tight would that look if we had a "black out" game like FSU? Except that we wouldn't lose. Mack is way to loyal to Darrell Royal so he won't do it but still i would like that. All he does is suck his dick. "Darrell Royal this, oh he is so great" shut up i don't care about that old goober.

We need to become a little edgier in our unis. I'm not saying go be Oregon but maybe have black alternates or something not to different from the originals.

Very concerned

First there was a post about Miss America and now the fashion police feel it necessary to critique our uniforms. What in the hell is going on around here???

Secondly, cannot believe you're dissin' Darrell Royal....NOT COOL!

As for the unis, well I think it says a lot about a program when they aren't constantly changing uniforms. The great programs DON'T do it - look at Penn State, Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame. The uni changes are more for generating revenue for the schools - they try to find a hip new look so everyone will buy their jerseys and apparel. The sweet thing about it is that the historic programs, like the ones listed above, can sell their merchandise without having to change it up! No need to change them IMHO.

Don't get me wrong i like Darrell Royal but he needs to let it go and let Mack be Mack not Darrell Royal.

Same thing with Mack yeah he should be recognized and so forth but old man Roayl needs to walk away into the sun set.

All Mack does is qoute one of his qoutes. Mack do you want to remembered as Mack Brown or as Darrell Royal the second?

I love Royal but a Mackovic guy in the first place.

This is insane. And wrong.

One of the smartest things Mack's done since arriving on the 40 Acres is bringing Royal back into the fold. It was a disgrace that he was pushed to the side for so long.

You could learn a lot from a man like Royan, DV. Seriously.

First off

The black jersey's were awful then, are awful now, will always be awful. We should never stray from the traditional jerseys, especially in football.

Second - anyone on this site would give their left nut to be considered Darrell K. Royal the second. That is just what the program needed and Mack did it right.

Blasphemous!

Royal "walked away into the sunset" soon after retiring from the Horns. Mack brought him back to the program after he was hired, to help bring back some of the tradition we lost under Mackovic.

And Mack Brown has paved his own legacy here. He just asked DKR to guide him. We are all happier people because of it.

those are pretty sick, but tradition trumps fashion everytime. As for football--NEVER change your uniform, because if you do, you are automatically admitting that you are not proud of your past history as a program. I did like the old school uni's that we busted out for the Cajun's game in 2005, though. I think if you absolutely have to change the football uniform, change it to an older throwback model and not try to make something new. We are NOT Oregon.

Some things in life should be changed every now and then. Football uniforms aren't one of them. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. While I'm all for moving forward, the uniforms are part of a tradition that shouldn't be ignored or cast aside (just like Darrell Royal.)

You think Michigan or Alabama's gonna break out black uniforms anytime soon?

I didn't relize that my out of the blue guess about Barnes not using them was because of the fact that they lost.

They should have done it against some scrub school like CU, Iowa State, Tech or Baylor to guarenntee victory.

They look even better than i remember them.

Come on do you really think the black jerseys aren't fly? if you do then I think you're just stuck in your old fashion thinking. Not that i like ND at all but the green jerseys are a nice little mix up from time to time. So what we got beat by 40, it wasn't the jerseys, it was the horrible defense on JJ and the injury to Buckman. Bring 'em back at least once more and then vote on it, and it was Nike that influenced the decision......i do think Mack sometimes needs to be his on man/coach, but don't talk about DKR like that....not cool!

While I do have some problesm with Captain Dhab's rantings and ravings, he spends entirely too much time writing and pontificating to be putting us on like "the bull".
