Second Half Open Thread
Texas with a commanding 10-7 lead over Baylor as we go for two Big 12 wins in a row. I'm inspired.

I dont understand the option play call going in. Honestly, I think we should have put Jermichael on the end and ran another play action just like on 3rd down.
I expect we make adjustments and come out firing and pull this titanic struggle out.

Hopefully
The alarm clock woke them up and they will show up in the 2nd half.

I just came in during that last drive
(I've had early-morning obligations these past two Saturdays, and of course Texas would schedule 11am kickoffs for both of these weekends)
I would be ever so grateful if I could get a Texas-biased synopsis of the first half. What personnel we've been seeing, young guys vs old guys, the basic storyline, key stat of the game, why are we up only 10-7 halftime? etc.
Again, if someone could give me an impression from the Texas perspective, I would really appreciate it.

we've been playing pretty poorly
but even so, the score wouldn't be nearly as close if texas hadn't run an option play with colt on 4th down and goal that was fumbled and returned to the texas 14, followed by a baylor touchdown.
by billyzane on Oct 20, 2007 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
What's the storyline?
If they're sucking, there's a reason for it. What's the offensive gameplan?
10 points??? One fumble can't cause that.
by BrooklynHorn on Oct 20, 2007 1:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
inept
colt doing too much
defense dropping lokey in coverage
failed fake field goal
questionable coaching
sound familiar?
by anonyMoose on Oct 20, 2007 1:36 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Frankly, the o gameplan looks like it was pulled
from a hat. We've run well but then we stopped running. A lotta wind and Colt didn't throw well into it and floated some with it. Chiles pushed the team via running but missed a third-down pass, roll out left.
Colt ran well following Baylor score to drive the team to TD, a pass deep in endzone to Nate which had to be reviewed. Otherwise, the Horns have sorta spluttered all over the place.
Two TOs. Fumble at goal on pitch to McGee, who has split time with JC. And an interception on a windblown pass. Just ugly stuff.
by whills on Oct 20, 2007 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
gameplan
running a lot early on, which was working. it's very windy in Waco today, apparently. the second team did pretty well on their one drive, but didn't get in the endzone.
to tell you the truth, i don't even know what's going wrong on offense. Colt has played okay, but threw a weird interception on a lofted pass that the DB took away from jermichael. other than that and the fumble, nothing really stands out other than just not very good execution.
by billyzane on Oct 20, 2007 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
young lb's
sergio, muck, and jared have played alot and when there in the teams looks so much better. bobino got hurt in 2nd. palmer and foster have made excellent plays.
"storm" played on third drive (i think). they moved it down the field fairly well till chiles underthrew open collins (i think) on third down.
colt took over after the baylor score. he must have run for at least 40 yards on one drive. nate had a sweet td catch after being interefered with.
"Give 'em Hell, Give 'em Hell, OU SUCKS!!!!!"

It's not that we play down to our competition
sometimes we play way below. This is like some of Pender's early teams which would go 'street ball' in an instant.

Do we get ball first?
by longhorn4life on Oct 20, 2007 1:29 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
We left
13 pts on the field in the first half. They need to make it up and blow'em out the second half. I will say I don't understand why Kindle and Norton aren't playing more. Kindle almost killed their first string running back with hit, and Norton saved a touchdown on the fourth down shot Baylor took at the endzone.
They need to execute like we know they can. They are letting Baylor hang around. 282 yeards of offense and 10 points? C'mon guys.
TEXAS FIGHT!!!!!!!
