Second Half Open Thread

Ladies and gentlemen, Offensive Coordinator Greg Davis!

Seriously, my support for this program is undying, but I'm pretty well disgusted by that half of offensive football.

Let's hope for a big turnaround; just like the Kansas State embarrassment, we're going to lose without a 180 degree turnaround.

Finley

finally did catch a pass at the end of the half.

Hopefully we see more of him in the 2nd half.

there were actually more called passes

the McCoy sacks and scrambles look like rushing attempts, but they were called passing plays.

LaMaar Houston

I haven't been paying attention 100%, but I haven't really heard from him. What's he up to today?

USC

these guys still cannot defend a dual threat QB.

Who should be the next O-coordinator?

This offense is offensive!  Who do you think we need to turn this around?  Major?

Are kidding GD isn't going anywhere.

so sad.

and so true.

by mattw on Oct 27, 2007 4:40 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

It seems to me

That we cannot make up our mind on what we are.  Last year, we said this is our offense, we're going 3 wides and passing all over the field - try and stop it.  Now, we have no identity and especially NO rhythm.  The Texas and Saints offense have morphed into the same unit: underacheiving O-line, talented RB that likes to dance when nothing's there, WR's who can't get seperation against man-to-man, QB making uncharacteristic bad reads and bad decisions.  Nightmare...

22 point spread

Nebraska might cover it at this rate.

Yeah!

I see a blowout for Nebraska. Texas has quit playing. FIRE GD maybe be a pipe dream but I'm still gonna shout it from the rooftops.

My adopted son Brandon Foster is coming along quite nicely.

by RemiMagnus on Oct 27, 2007 4:46 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Go back and read your own post

If "Texas has quit playing" as you say, I don't think you can totally lay that at GD's feet. Davis is just a convenient scapegoat. The problems in this program go a little further than just the offensive playcalling/gameplaning.

by Old Tex29 on Oct 27, 2007 4:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

They go further than that

but quite significantly, they begin with Davis.

by BrooklynHorn on Oct 27, 2007 4:52 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I disagree

by Old Tex29 on Oct 27, 2007 4:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

there are still people in denial about this that we are in this position.

Mack getting whooped by a coach that's gonna get canned!

Texas always brings it against the aggies.

by RemiMagnus on Oct 27, 2007 4:48 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Really?

because 2 years in a row, we have mailed it in against the Aggies.

by BrooklynHorn on Oct 27, 2007 4:49 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

It's the same exact play too

To Swift. Same safety loses him.

John Chiles - I'm your foster daddy!

by BMG on Oct 27, 2007 4:48 PM CDT   0 recs

I really am in denial

I thought this whole "GD will make it simpler for McCoy" strategy was actually working. Should've known it was only because we were playing Iowa St and Baylor.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:48 PM CDT   0 recs

Special teams

When was the last time Cosby broke one or even got to midfield on a kickoff return?

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:50 PM CDT   0 recs

Nope

Never got to midfield. Did get to the 40 a couple of times. I'd take that.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

This drive will tell the story

Do we have fight left, or is it time to start the bus?

by SaintBevo on Oct 27, 2007 4:50 PM CDT   0 recs

The only thing worse than our offense right now

Is Ron Franklin's announcing partner. I'm dying here.

--PB--

by PB @ BON on Oct 27, 2007 4:53 PM CDT   0 recs

We're Texas

It's the nature of being Texas.

Even the worst teams will play their hearts out against us. It's a matter of high levels of motivation for opposing teams that we can't seem to counter. Exhibit A: Kansas State.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:53 PM CDT   0 recs

I'm chuckling thinking about

the MB press conference earlier this week, when he said "Our offense is explosive." Yeah, explosive like a fart.

by limnonectes on Oct 27, 2007 4:55 PM CDT   0 recs

Yup

Hilarious. We have zero ability to stretch the field.

Run run pass

Run run pass.  This is going to haunt me for a few nights.  It's so predictable it's unpredictable!

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 27, 2007 4:56 PM CDT   0 recs

Its amazing to think that

both Stafford and Tebow are Sophomores. This coulf be a great game for the next three years.

by BrooklynHorn on Oct 27, 2007 4:57 PM CDT   0 recs

Lokey

I thought it was a good move to put him in the O-line. At least we're trying something.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:58 PM CDT   0 recs

Once again

Cosby can't do anything with the punt, and we can't block punts.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:59 PM CDT   0 recs

Colt is the problem with the deep ball

He won't stay in a perfectly good pocket long enough to get a guy open downfield.  He takes off 2 seconds after the ball is snapped regardless of pressure.

by HookeminOKC on Oct 27, 2007 5:00 PM CDT   0 recs

Agree

He hasn't stepped into a throw all year.

--PB--

by PB @ BON on Oct 27, 2007 5:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Lets just put him in and see what happens.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 5:01 PM CDT   0 recs

Why

do all of our opponents appear to be better prepared than our guys?  Never mind, that's rhetorical.

by FutureMan on Oct 27, 2007 5:01 PM CDT   0 recs

Nice run

by Charles. Good play too. Need to get him in the open field. Not near the trenches.

by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 5:03 PM CDT   0 recs

nebraska blitzing on every play and yet

we can't get a single big play

by SaintBevo on Oct 27, 2007 5:03 PM CDT   0 recs

Bowden's comment

On the radio, Terry Bowden noted that Texas is lining up in obvious rush formations. When Nebraska gives up big running plays, opponents are in the spread formation. Calling John Chiles. You are needed to save Mack Brown's behind.

by milevin on Oct 27, 2007 5:06 PM CDT   0 recs

Sir...

Your logic and reason have no place in play calling.  I suggest we line up in a power-I as often as possible.

by DisplacedTexan on Oct 27, 2007 5:07 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

At least

We are consistently feeding Cosby. Now we get a big penalty on NU.

Hey it's ROGER!
