Second Half Open Thread
Ladies and gentlemen, Offensive Coordinator Greg Davis!
Seriously, my support for this program is undying, but I'm pretty well disgusted by that half of offensive football.
Let's hope for a big turnaround; just like the Kansas State embarrassment, we're going to lose without a 180 degree turnaround.

seriously...this is pretty pathetic...
what happened to I-formation plays and did jermichael get benched?
Finley
finally did catch a pass at the end of the half.
Hopefully we see more of him in the 2nd half.
by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 4:29 PM CDT up reply actions
there were actually more called passes
the McCoy sacks and scrambles look like rushing attempts, but they were called passing plays.

these guys still cannot defend a dual threat QB.
Who should be the next O-coordinator?
This offense is offensive! Who do you think we need to turn this around? Major?
Are kidding GD isn't going anywhere.
by RemiMagnus on Oct 27, 2007 4:35 PM CDT up reply actions
It seems to me
That we cannot make up our mind on what we are. Last year, we said this is our offense, we're going 3 wides and passing all over the field - try and stop it. Now, we have no identity and especially NO rhythm. The Texas and Saints offense have morphed into the same unit: underacheiving O-line, talented RB that likes to dance when nothing's there, WR's who can't get seperation against man-to-man, QB making uncharacteristic bad reads and bad decisions. Nightmare...
Man the Coaches need to step up

Go back and read your own post
If "Texas has quit playing" as you say, I don't think you can totally lay that at GD's feet. Davis is just a convenient scapegoat. The problems in this program go a little further than just the offensive playcalling/gameplaning.
by Old Tex29 on Oct 27, 2007 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Is Ron Franklin's announcing partner. I'm dying here.
We're Texas
It's the nature of being Texas.
Even the worst teams will play their hearts out against us. It's a matter of high levels of motivation for opposing teams that we can't seem to counter. Exhibit A: Kansas State.

Colt is the problem with the deep ball
He won't stay in a perfectly good pocket long enough to get a guy open downfield. He takes off 2 seconds after the ball is snapped regardless of pressure.

On the radio, Terry Bowden noted that Texas is lining up in obvious rush formations. When Nebraska gives up big running plays, opponents are in the spread formation. Calling John Chiles. You are needed to save Mack Brown's behind.

Your logic and reason have no place in play calling. I suggest we line up in a power-I as often as possible.

There needs to be an equation

If you picked Florida to beat Georgia, Pick em is giving you the points. I guess you get docked if you picked Georgia. Looks like they simply got the score reversed
Great
We'll need to recover another on-side kick to win the game.

UCF and Arkie St
good thing Texas got to work on their 2-minute defensive onside kick coverage this year
I said it before...
The miss FG and inability to convert 2pt conversions could kills us

let's make their instructor
offensive coordinator. ludicrous, but it's been a trying day

My Boys catches that
and then fumbles it.

and then recovers it.
he is gonna give his foster home a heart attack.
by RemiMagnus on Oct 27, 2007 6:24 PM CDT up reply actions
So yeah
About that totally unnecessary 2pt attempt at 21-17? Mack needs a math major with him on the sidelines at all times.
Mack was thinking
That 23-17 is a 2 possession game with respect to FGs.
by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 6:25 PM CDT up reply actions
I understand that
But the assumption that they will get the ball twice - also assumes you'll get the ball at least once. It was ridiculously unnecessary.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 27, 2007 6:26 PM CDT up reply actions
Perhaps
But if mack was playing for a 2 fg lead or forcing them to make an xp - that is just silly. 2pt conversions are overused. Don't take points off the board that you don't need to - they will come back to haunt you, and they could have this game.
by DisplacedTexan on Oct 27, 2007 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions
2 false starts
within a minute. O-line doing everything it can to kill us.

I'm proud of these guys.
They fought tooth and nails to win this Game. Game ball goes to JC. He saved our asses today
by RemiMagnus on Oct 27, 2007 6:29 PM CDT reply actions
Give Colt Praise
He took some shots and hung in there to help up win this game.
Just wondering...
Why didn't we just kneel at the end?
I mean, what if they somehow pop the ball out of Oggy's hands and they run to the house?
by goingforthecorner on Oct 27, 2007 6:31 PM CDT reply actions
Why not kneel?
I agree with you, and if not, why give the ball to someone who I don't believe had touched it in awhile? Seems more likely to fumble at that point than Charles.
Congrats
to you guys.
you guys take care. Glad we made you work for it.
our suckage is truly bigger than yours.
but not by much, apparently.
ahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahsh
It is Halloween weekend, right?

i wasnt directing that towards you pb, i havent read anything this week and i was basing it off what i read last week, by the way i was way out of line calling you a dumbass last week and im sorry, i was a little enebriated.
ps 290 on 33 carries with 3 tds, unstoppable
alright
but next time try not to use me as an example in your story,

JC is...
The kid who deserves the game ball and Okam too for that strip and recovery. It was nice to see JC and Ken Rucker on the sideline just now... JC giving him a hug. It's been quite a year for both of them. Maybe this was cathartic for JC? You just never know.
Congrats Coach Brown!
100 wins! And I look forward to many many more!

Officiating
I was proud of our guys today. Just terrific effort and pride to not give up and keep coming back, particularly as they were outumbered on the field all game long. The number of non calls against Nebraska even got the attention of the broadcasting crew. I'll give them (reluctantly) the two late hits on Colt, as those were judgement calls. An unbiased crew would have called at least one of them, though. The holding on Finley on the 2 point try was blatant, as was the illegal block in the back on the kickoff.
I hope Deloss is on the phone to the supervisor of Big 12 officials, letting him know that if we ever see any of these clowns again at a Texas game, it will be the Big Eleven the next day.
These officials should consider a move to the NBA.
