#15 Horns Host UC-Davis Tonight
The #15 Longhorns (1-0) are back in action tonight at 7 PM at the Erwin Center as they take on UC-Davis (1-1) in the first of two Regional Round games in Austin.
The Horns are one of the four host schools for the StubHub Legends Classic. The other three are West Virginia, Tennessee, and New Mexico State. Texas will automatically join those three teams in Newark, NJ for the Championship Rounds to be played on Friday November 23rd and Saturday November 24th.
This shouldn't be much of game. UC-Davis returns four starters from a team that went just 5-23 last season and won just one game after January 18th. The Aggies opened this season by defeating La Verne 97-55 before falling to New Mexico State 75-65 on Wednesday evening. UC-Davis is led by sophomore guard Shane Hanson and junior guard Vince Oliver. Both players are averaging over 15 ppg in about 30 minutes of action.
The Horns are still without freshman Gary Johnson, who has not yet been cleared to play. Anyone who attended or watched the UT-San Antonio game saw the Horns struggle tremendously to find any post play at all. The one thing I'll be watching most closely tonight will be if Clint Chapman, Dexter Pittman, or Alexis Wangmene can establish themselves on the low blocks and also have the guards find them.

See you at the Drum.

Hope Chapman is going to be as good...
... as his girlfriend is going to be.
Kat has already shown flashes of brilliance as a true freshman, and is a gritty gutsy battler with a sweet shooting touch.

The Chapman article was good
and he obviously grabs at opportunity when it comes round. Hope he finds his shooting touch soon.
Barnes must have tough, tough practices; he makes life difficult for freshmen - and probably for romance, too.
The Lady Horns are showing some grit; we'll see how they measure up when they play Tennessee. Coach G seems about as intense as Barnes, although not nearly as funny.

Wow.
Just got back from the game. Why were we able to utterly dominate them in the second half? Is Barnes turning the switch on at halftime saying "Ok, they had their fun, now let's go win the game real quick and put J.D. Lewis in."?
I'm waiting for Wiggo's recap...
...but I feel like I have a very good idea of why we murdered them in the 2nd half.
Pushed tempo, quick passes inside from the top of the key instead of the wing, the guards slashing to the basket, and just a suffocating defense leading to a lot of turnovers...once the pace picked up and we started getting the ball inside, everything seemed to click.
I'll post a much longer recap after Wiggo's...
