It wasn't that long ago that Garnet Smith came to Austin, TX, declaring himself to to be the best linebacker in the State coming out of high school.
He never backed up his lofty claim, as his career in Austin was cut short by injury. He transfered after the 2004-05 school year, I believe.
He is now the starting middle linebacker at Texas A&M University - Commerce, in the Lone Star Conference. He made all-conference last season at DE.
