NCAA Tournament Preview - Texas vs Texas State
Friday night at Gregory Gym the Gazelles take on Texas State at 6:30pm. Texas State ended the season being swept by Stephen F. Austin but then got hot and won the Southland Conference Tournament to qualify for the NCAA tourney. Texas qualifies as an at-large after tying Nebraska for the Big 12 Conference Championship.
NCAA First and Second Rounds in Austin
Against common opponents, Texas State lost 1-3 against Big 12 teams, Baylor, Missouri and Texas A&M. Texas swept Missouri and Baylor twice and swept A&M once at B/CS and won 3-1 in Austin. Their other common opponent was Houston which the Horns swept and Texas State beat 3-1. My prediction is the Horns come out fired up and sweep Texas State.
For those of you that are able to attend, the 4:30 pm game between LSU and New Mexico State should be quite competitive. New Mexico State is ranked #14 in the current AVCA poll. LSU was ranked but had some tough 5 game matches they lost to Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina and Tulane. They now are in the others receiving votes category. I would expect the Horns to play New Mexico State on Saturday.
Here is a cool link to Rich Kern's website which list all the broadcast info (video, audio & livestats) for all the games in the NCAA tournament. The rest of his site requires membership but he's made this page free.

Yes
I've been waiting for this since the 5 game loss to Stanford last season.
I'll definitely be at both matches on Friday. Get fired up for some great volleyball if you are able to attend.
