well shit

I'd like to see some more of that Killebrew on the field.  He's good.

Posted on the 1st half thread, but can we get a 3rd down stop?  They're 8 for 11 right now and on one of the stops they converted on 4th.

by Crash on Nov 3, 2007 4:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

but seriously

in order for us to get back on top, I think the one thing we need to start doing is tackling.  No more YACs or even "Yards after Jukes", or YAJ's as we say when Bobibrew is on the field.

2nd Half strategy

Kick some ass, Horns.  That Finley guy might be an option offensively.  And how about some better tackling? I'm sensing a good 2nd half.  BON'ers...keep drinking just in case.

...they play well or poorly?

halftime adjustments??

I don't even know where to start.

"And as they were loosing the Colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the Colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him."

by SelimSivad on Nov 3, 2007 4:28 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

for starters...

a little pressure on Robinson (when they're not running the screen), better tackling.  On offense, the medium middle looks very soft.  Perhaps a nice place for JF to settle down.  I still think the points are there for the taking, but we have to tackle better and get off the field on 3rd down.

by FutureMan on Nov 3, 2007 4:30 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

why wouldn't you

stick to the run game and use chiles at some point.  Yes, colt is getting yards but they are still keying on JC.  They cant do that when Chiles is in the game.  Colt gets very few yards on planned runs.  Nebraska was the exception and not the rule.  I dont get it.

by thanos on Nov 3, 2007 4:30 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Here's an adjustment

let Dustin Earnest play for Killebrew. I guarantee you we will see better results. Hell a hobbled Kindle would be better than Killebrew.

a few snaps for Earnest...

wouldn't be a bad idea.  our LB's have been getting exposed, as if anybody's surprised.

Longhorn game online

1.Get SopCast

  1. Get VLC

Sopcast/VLC note:
All streams on Sopcast can be viewed with VLC, though for a select few streams this is mandatory. Additionally, sometimes VLC can stream a few seconds or more ahead of what shows up in Sopcast itself, which can help reduce your lag between the stream's source and when you watch it.

To use VLC, download VLC at http://www.videolan.org and install it , then start the Sopcast stream and let it buffer. Then open VLC, go to Open Network Stream, select HTTP option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (if not working, try port 8912). You MUST leave Sopcast running; closing Sopcast closes the stream. If the stream gives sound in both VLC and Sopcast, mute the sound on Sopcast, or hit the refresh button so the Sopcast screen goes blank, but the VLC screen stays intact
3.Stream this address: sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/25813
4.Try not to vomit at the Longhorns play

I agree but

you cant pin this on Colt either.  One of the INT's was a freakish type play where the wr got popped and the ball happened to go high enough up in the air for someone to dive and catch and the other was a questionable call.  Probably the right one, but one that 50% of the time is called the other way...

They've missed so many tackles

that after a while the players lose their aggression and just try to make sure they get the guy. That's basically how they should have been operating at first. Then you can take a kill shot ever so often when you have pursuit coming. But today, no...

I LAY IT AT THE FEET

of MB and the coaching staff:

  1. Poor "2 a day" preparation with the "jailbird" distraction and who knows what else.  Fundamentals on this team have been bad since day 1.  I don't think this can be overemphasized.
  1. Need new coordinators.
  1. Need to play for next year; put in the young studs.

We'll be lucky to go 1 and 1 the rest of the way and end up in the Independence Bowl.

Does Dodds have enough reason to shitcan Davis and bring in some fresh blood?  And perhaps hire a real defensive coach and, I don't know, maybe lock them up with a good contract?

interesting

i don't think we lose out, but we need shake up on the staff.  promoting akina was a nice loyalty move, but idiotic.  we can pay our coordnators more than most head coaches get and we promote the secondary coach(the weak link of last year's defense).  maybe we should make mcwhorter the OC next year?

Run with McCoy. Can you believe that? Who thought that statement made sense?

Colt

for all of Colt's flaws and mistakes, I still love the guy. Such a competitor.

For the rest of this season

I'm not tuning in until the fourth quarter. Just a waste of time .. :-)

by NYCHorn on Nov 3, 2007 6:14 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

311 fourth-quarter yards for Texas.

What in the hell is that?

One of the weirdest stats the last two weeks. Real Dr. Jekyll- Mr. Hyde stuff.

no fucking way

there's no better group of people i would have rather watched such a historic game with, seriously

Horns!!!

I'd like to take credit for being the only optimist about 2 quarters ago.

What a comeback!  Bailey for president.

i am speechless.

JAmaal Charles deserves that MVP award. He's gone from the man we don't want getting the ball, to our go-to guy.

Just....incredible.

My adopted son Sergio Kindle does not sleep; he waits.

Wow...
what a comeback.  I haven't had a chance to post until now (didn't want to jinx the comeback since I wasn't able to post in the 1st half), but I want to say thanks to all the fellow Longhorn fans out there.  It sucks being on the East Coast and getting the crappy ACC game of the week and I can't always make it to the sports bar to catch the game.  This site makes it possible to follow the game a hell of a lot better than the online gamecasts.  Thanks to everyone for giving a great perspective on the game.

Again....what a great finish.  Go Horns!

Amazing.

OSU choked again.  I can't believe we won.

My boo is Hunter Lawrence. That's right, I took a kicker. Another great example of why you shouldn't wait until you get home to read BON.

False Start Dockery

Not to rain on a great parade, but wasn't that the second game in a row that Dockery has been called for a false start late in the game?  Could have been costly.

We are not worthy

We betrayed our team by doubting.

So does Jammal become a Heisman canidate?  He has to be considered right?

Over 450 yards in two weeks

basically in two quarters is impressive, with 5 TDs too I think.

Hey I never did!

But the Tech game is going to be another adventure if our poor tackling and covering carries over. But I don't think anyone's even thinking about the Tech game now. We're just happy we're still alive.

I want to lift one to 54b.

He was there and should have witnessed the comeback if he hadn't exploded from the 3-2 beer. He called it 55-54, so here's to you 54b.

MVP - Bailey, McCoy or Mack?

Unbelievable! Ryan Bailey's kicked another de ja vu winning field goal which had happened on Nebraska last year.

Mack got my one vote for MVP - he has done a really good job by yelling at the team. As a coach, I think he needs to yell at the team more. When we play sloppy, he needs to be a hardcore coach. No more pleasing everybody or afraid of hurting someone's feeling that kind of bs approach to the team.

Fire up the team & yell at them more, Coach Brown!

I dunnot if this is Texas vs. OSU tradition. We always able to come from behind by the big margin to beat them. Every time we played OSU, that was the case.

For the gambler who bet the Horns to lose today, sorry. You have just lost your bet:)
