Postgame React.... Later
For now, just some good old fashioned celebration.
Edit: New video. A more appropriate one, I think. Starts slow, real slow, and then, just when you're not sure you can take anymore... Boom goes the dynamite!
Seriously, if you can't enjoy this win, I don't know what to tell you. We'll talk about stuff later. I'm headed out to celebrate and watch some more football.
Long live fall football Saturdays.

I thought they would do it.
I really did... I never gave up but boy it was hard hanging on to hope, and then Jamaal busted the 76 yarder. I knew it was gonna happen then... and it did.
How beautiful was that? You know I am thinking of the Ohio State team about four years ago that beat Miami for the NC... they won almost all of their games by squeaking thin margins almost ALL year. No one gave them a chance and then they won the NC by beating the Hurricanes.
No NC game for us, but we may have some of that character in us now. Never give up and win when it counts. Its a shame we had to lose twice to find it. But I am so happy for the kids and for Mack right now, especially with all the injuries. i hope Norton, Kindle, Griffin and Kelson are OK. We're going to need them against TTU.
Longhorn fans need to understand
Vince Young was great and all, but we're not helpless without him. We CAN do amazing things without VY. Our offense CAN explode at any moment without VY. We CAN make ridiculous comebacks without VY.

Broken record
Is this a requirement for Texas - OSU games? Can we just spot them 21 points at the start of the game from now on? It would make it easier on our fans, including me. Living in Victoria, BC, I got UCLA - Arizona on the Seattle station, and followed UT on the internet. Even so, it was hard on me. If we hadn't been playing OSU, I probably would have shut it off and gone out to rake leaves. But, considering history, I guessed, correctly, that we would come back, even without Vince. Hookem

how long does it take to renovate a stadium?
Boone Pickens U. needs to hire a better contractor.
This seems like the 5th consecutive year that Boone Pickens University Stadium has been under construction.

Change the name of the stadium...

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. I just think that's funny.

Weird and wonderful 2007 football season
Okay, I just saw the final score from the Iowa State - Kansas State game. So ISU whipped KSU, who embarassed UT, who trashed ISU, who... Wait a minute. Is there nothing we can count on this year? Oh, yeah, there is. OSU will take a big lead on Texas, and then we will come back and win anyway.

Listen...
Listen, if youre going to come after my team, ONE OF MY TEAMS, then you come after one that doesnt do the right things. they go to class, theyre respectful to the media, THEYRE RESPECTFUL TO THE PUBLIC!!! And you just beat the shit out of them. Whos the kid here? Are you kidding me?
Major Applewhite.. I love Alabama's offense.
They are constantly keeping LSU's d off balance. He's doing a great job in this game.
Les Miles
Poor coaching is losing LSU this game. 11 penalties for 101 yards.
My first Longhorn Football game
and they didn't disappiont me! I am more proud to be apart of this athletic program. Go Horns.

After we beat OSU today, now...
should we root for OU or A&M lose tonite? Damn, I want both of them lose tonite but can't happen. Which one lose tonite will benefits to Texas for BCS bid? If OU lose tonite, we need them to lose one more for us to play Big 12 title. Then, we have to beat Kansas to get the BCS bid?
The Tornado Bowl
I'm rooting for a tornado to take out the whole stadium, fans included.
Forgive Me Ye Olde Mighty Bevo
For I have dissed my beloved Horn's throughout the first quarter of the OSU game. Verily, I shall not lose my hope, nay my faith, in you from this point forward. Amen
All's well that ends well
but I can't take the stress. At the sports bar there were more dropped jaws on the floor than spilled beer at the end of the game. The last couple of 4th quarters have almost, almost, made up for the rest of this season.

Two things
- I've hated a lot of sports teams throughout my life, but I can't imagine that any ill will I've ever felt toward any athlete or team even remotely compares to how much the people in Stillwater must ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATE the University of Texas.
- We've now completed three 20+ point comebacks in the last 4 years against OSU. The only comparable phenomenon I can recall, throughout the entirety of sports, might be the 4 games FSU has lost against Miami on final-play missed field goals (3 wide rights, 1 wide left). But pulling off three record-setting, are-you-fucking-shitting-me, completely ridiculous comebacks against the same team in 4 years seems even more statistically improbable.
I guess they feel about us the way
I/we feel about Kansas State. The one difference: We both hate o.u. There will always be an element of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" where OSU is concerned (for me, anyway).
Woulda paid to see the Gundy post-game presser ..
What a great game. I think our team has an identity now. We lose our center on an already-depleted o-line (which has been one of the main issues/problems with the team this season), and then good defensive players start dropping like flies ... Eddie (did you get the license # on the fumble hit) Jones, Norton, Kindle, Kelson ... well, the other three. Weird things happen, like the calls on the fumbles, ints, the hit/interception, but ... the team comes back (again) and wins in a difficult environment. We win the 4th quarter, again, this time, 24-0. That's the id of this team.
Over at the Statesman, they are calling for Davis's head after a 600-yard offensive day. And they are after Akina, whose defense gave up 600 yards, but only one score in the second half. Did they not watch? The D played big in the second half. Muck and D. Beasley were everywhere.
Charles made huge plays, as did Colt. He rebounded from his bad start and a dropped TD by Cosby to have a great day.
This is a great win, and Mack Brown and his staff deserve a lot of credit. How 'bout them pooch kickoffs, i.e.?
All B Orange fans should savor today.
And think of the angst foisted upon Choke St. and their insane coach. The Chokies melted down like a Gundy presser.

Key word
The key word of this game is: State
Mack alluded to the mental game in his post game comments. It means even more than he says. Does anyone believe that if we were behind OU by 21 points at the start of the 4th quarter that we would have come back to win? More importantly, would the two teams on the field have thought that was possible? In this game, however, our team really thought they could come back, and OSU had to be thinking that it would slip away from them one more time.
I agree with the idea that Okie State fans have to really, really hate Texas. To misquote a Red Sox pitcher from a few years ago - "We're their daddy".

"Fabulous" Running Back?
I hate to say it, but I gotta vote for that LSU sack. Les Miles is the luckiest bad coach in America.

Idunno. Navy beating ND? That's huge.
JC's run was a big play, but it wasn't the coffin nail or the original spark.
It was the D stepping up with some determined play despite the coaching up to and through the third quarter.

I am a SON! Of a MOTHER!
But I'm also a MAN! Who is 27!
And that was gosh-darned greatest TX/OSU 4th quarter comeback I've ever seen, and that's saying something!
p.s. Some of those calls were GARBAGE! And the refs who called them are GARBAGE!
HAHAHA!!!
It seemed
PB - Yes, you have to love this win.
BUT, you can not love how it came to be "this win". It was a bad football game. The only thing worse than the Horns' game plan and execution was the collapse of OSU in the fourth quarter.
Once again, "a win is a win" will take the heat off of the coaching staff that appears to squandering talent.
I could not have made this post yesterday. I still had the buzz, but spotting 21 to teams like the Pokes? Compare our "comeback" to that of LSU, how hard that game was played. We have a way to go.
O.K. let's compare
Analysis:
Texas -
<bullet> Horns down 21 points at 8:40 mark of 3rd qtr and scores 24 unanswered in last 21 minutes and 20-seconds of the game. Texas down 7 with 7:30 remaining in the game.
<bullet> Texas has 11 penalties for 64 yards of which only 1 resulted in an OSU 1st down.
<bullet> Defense bends but does not break on last 5 OSU possessions and holds breath on last one as field goal is wide right. Texas gives up more yards in the fourth than LSU (150 yds vs. 29 net yds).
<bullet> Texas offense had four 4th qtr drives of 59, 99, 91, and 57 yards for 306 total yards.
LSU -
<bullet> LSU only down by 3 points at start of 4th qtr.
<bullet> LSU shows nation lack of discipline by commiting FOURTEEN PENALTIES FOR 114 YARDS for the game! Almost one-half of which resulted in first downs for the Tide.
<bullet> True, LSU gives up fewer yards in the four 4th qtr Tide possessions (29 yards)...only the last of which ended in LSU territory (49 yd line) as downs expired. But the Tigers 4th qtr offensive drive yardage was 42 (FG), 10 (Punt), 8 (Punt), 84 (TD), 3 (TD) on 5 possesions totaled a mere 111 yards. Further, idiotic offensive illegal shift penalty on 4th down of their 2nd 4th qtr possession results in Tiger O-lineman losing his head, errr, taking off his helmet and promptly results in 15 yd unsportsman penalty. Then LSU unspecial punt team gives up potential Pontiac game changing performance Bama punt return for TD. With 7:51 left in the game, LSU only down 7 pts.
<bullet> Alabama literally hands the winning score to LSU with a call out of the old 'Crimson play book - LTDisGRaceFulACF (Let The Defesive Guy Run Free And Cause Fumble) resulting in an LSU first and goal at the Tide 3-yard line.
Conclusion:
While both teams were down 7 with roughly the same amount of time remaining in the game and both had roughly equal number of TO's with similar results, how they overcame the deficit to win is really an "apples-to-oranges" comparison. Sure, LSU did not have to rely on a missed field goal late in the game by their opponent but neither did they have to make up so much ground for the winning score.
In the end, I think you have to give the nod (read "understatment") to UT's win, the result of which was the largest 2nd half comeback in school history (that's a long time - 1,157 games played since 1893). You be the judge.
More like 130
yards in penalties but yeh, thats a disgrace. He's got the best team in America but Les Miles is luckiest bastard striding a college football sideline right now.
Still, you have to consider that LSU was under HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE pressure to win that game and were able to ovecome multiple mistakes to come through.
I was referring to the Florida game.
Even then, you can not come close to comparing BAMA to OSU. Come on. LSU won in Bama's backyard, slighty more inimidating than give up coliseum.
I have trouble finding any week-to-week improvement. Lucky coaches? Mack is one of them.
by Brian.HalcYoN on Nov 4, 2007 10:17 AM CST up reply actions
Comparing those two games?
C'mon. The LSU-Bama history goes way back further than UT-OSU. There's tried and true hatred. Both teams have sick amounts of talent, and Bama has LSU's old ball coach.
The fact that LSU did it in a hostile environment - BPU is not hostile - and every game they play is for the national championship (six ranked opponents in last eight games) and they have the bullseye. All this after losing four players to the first round.
LSU has done this now against Auburn, Florida, and Bama. They trailed to S Car and Kentucky actually came from behind. Annihilating Va tech is pretty much an afterthought right now
Is it really a feather in your cap when you barely luck and squeak by a team that got destroyed by Troy? Bama's lone feather is beating Tennessee, which controls its destiny in the SEC East. Plus, coming back on OSU is nothing new for the Horns. Even VY had to do it. So it's not just a Les Miles thing. It's an OSU thing.
Fantastic for morale
and especially so in light of all the setbacks we had in the game but you're right.
I have to say I've enjoyed the LSU games much more for a couple of reasons. First, I didn't give a shit who won. Thrillers are all well and good but I'm all set for a nice 70-0 whooping by UT. Second, the LSU games have generally been better played with outstanding performances by both teams throughout the contest. We've shown some pluck and Jamaal is a god but our excitment has to be tempered by the unbelievable shitiness that is the Nebreska defense (which held us for 3 quarters!!!!!!!!!!! - Ugggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!) and the predictable choke job from OSU (not that I was predicting yesterday although I should've).
Call me risk averse but I'm watching the game on Classic and enjoying it much more that I did yesterday. Also, we're not really playing that bad but things just aren't working out. Soooooooo good to KNOW that they will.
Give Greg Davis Some Credit
Alot of us have been critical of GD these last 2 years, and with some good reason. If we criticize him whenever the offense plays poorly, however, we should give him credit when they play well. Just how well the offensive play-calling worked (589 yd) is somewhat obscured due to the three interceptions and the poor defense in the first half that put us behind starting about 60 seconds into the game.

![This year's senior night for Texas wasn't a particularly memorable one. AJ Abrams and Connor Atchley were relatively quiet, while Baylor barely showed up to compete. I'll take the comfortable win, but the snoozer of a game certainly didn't do much to feed the appetite for excitement.
For that, then, we turn to Pullman for Washington State's senior night overtime thriller, where in his final home game as a Cougar Taylor Rochestie kept WSU red hot and streaking towards the NCAA Tournament. Incredible...
March Madness is here.
