Bobby Petrino to the Hogs
Looks like one year in Hell, I mean Atlanta, has caused Bobby Petrino to return to the college ranks. ESPN is reporting Petrino is leaving the Falcons and will be the next head coach at Arkansas. It is an interesting hire for the Pig People. Shame for them Mustain and the receiver both left for USC. Mustain would have been something in Petrino's system.

In other news...
Terrelle Pryor has axed Texas from his list:
"Texas is out," he said. "They're just not recruiting me that hard and I don't want to deal with all the Vince Young comparisons. It's not a big deal, they weren't that high on my list to start with but I was a little interested."

oh well
we probably wouldn't play him once we got him, anyway.

what a wimp...
And does he really think he won't get Troy Smith comparisons at Ohio State or Pat White comparisons at WVU?
Ridiculous excuse. If he would have just said that he wasn't interested, I wouldn't have a problem.

this means A&M will be facing the Petrino
power spread when Arkansas and A&M face off in Jerry World.
Makes it a much more interesting non-conference match-up now.
As for Terrelle Pryor, he doesn't bear a physical resemblance to Troy Smith or Pat White; he is built exactly like Vince was coming out of high school.
The comparisons are valid.
I am somewhat shocked that texas isn't recruiting him hard. Do they have a QB already committed in this class?

They want Sheppard
or Gilbert in 09 and have a good chance at getting both.
With 4 QBs already on the roster I can't imagine why QB would be a need.

it isn't so much about it being a need position
it is about the #1 QB in the nation (and #1 recruit in the nation) being interested in your school.
Regardless of what your depth situation is at that position, when you have a player of Pryor's ability available and interested, you go after him.
I doubt all four of your QBs are going to stay on your roster; I would be very surprised if y'all still have Harris, Chiles, Kinne, and McCoy still on your roster in Spring '09. I think at least one of Harris/Chiles/Kinne will transfer.

My word would be
"expensive".
I wonder how much per capita those states spend on college football.

i think all the college coaches
should stay in college and stop making fools of themselves in the pros. damn patrino you look like an A-hole. saban and spurrier have just as much to blame for this as well. i think they all are full of themselves and should stop trying to play with the big boys of the NFL.

Do you really think
this makes him look like an A-hole? The most talented player on the team is in jail. The backup QB was traded. The team is in chaos mode. The players are yelling at him. C'mon man. What would you do in his situation? I think this is a smart move on his part. Might he have overstepped his abilities taking the job in the first place? Possibly. But this does not make him an A**.
I think it's a very smart hire on Arkansas' part. I almost have to think though that they got a call from Petrino's agent saying something like "You know...Bobby sure misses coaching in college and he's somewhat upset he didn't move to the SEC. Why don't you give him a call."

Petrino has a history
and burned everyone in his path leaving this job, including his assistants.
Bad karma awaits him in the SEC.

patrino could have finished the season first.
patrino left a note for all the falcons to read. A NOTE! couldn't even tell his players face to face that he was jumping ship. i think that is a low blow to the entire falcons organization, and the city of atlanta. for that i call him an A-hole. He lied to the owner and the entire organization and said he would be thier coach, and just to show up on a press confrence all smiles accepting a new job. i'm just a firm believer in finishing what you start. good for the university of arkansas yes but not for bobby boy.

Something tells me....
...Mack's interest in reinvigorating the rivalry with Arkansas will wane now that Petrino has been hired. Maybe we can start playing 2 opponents from the SunBelt. Whoopee!

Are you saying
that you think Mack is going to back out of these games now? Or just not schedule Arkansas in the future?
