PrintFor those of us scattered about the country (and world!), keeping in touch with current events surrounding the 40 acres can be a little tricky. However, in a forum over on hornfans.com, there are some great December pics of the ongoing construction at DKR-TM Stadium. I cannot wait to return to Austin for a game in the near future! Enjoy...

... They would build some of the supports so we could see how tall this thing's supposed to get. I keep thinking it's going to go up near the upper decks, but then I'm like "whu? fuuuuuuuu!"
Some sketches depict an upper deck...
I recall that some of the earlier drawings depict another set of seats above the luxury suites (which I believe are just now underconstruction in the photos--especially photo 3). Anybody have news on this?

Found it...
...and a new upper deck (which will be a continuation, or "wrap-around," of the stadium’s east upper deck.
-from somewhere that came up on Google. That'll be pretty sweet, but not as sweet as if it was a wrap around of the west grandstand.

Here's a link that has some of the images Lincoln posted. I actually kind of like the aesthetics of the west upper deck up there by itself.
Arctic... thanks for the post. As a Longhorn and a structural engineer, I get doubly geeked-out by stuff like this.
The best part
is the continuation of that East-Side brick facade around the North endzone.

What the F happened to Godzillatron?
Not enough ad-space...
... Their working on a program to give every fan a T-shirt that they must wear to enter the game, covered with corporate logos.
Upon further review
It looks like these models were constructed before Godzillatron rose from it's deep ocean slumber.
The 1st two pics from Lincoln show the old scoreboard in the "horseshoe" model.
But it does beg the question, will they redesign the "bowl" model around Godzillatron....or relocate Godzillatron to fit in the bowl. (Mohammed, mountain, etc.)
bass hall
Not really on topic, but the hornsfans post had some pictures of bass hall construction. What are they doing there?
Fire Code...
I got a tour of the place before they destroyed it. They said that it hasn't been up to fire code since the 80's or something, and then later, they tried to tell us that they were giving the place a "face-lift". Yeah, right. They're gutting the place and adding some huge new foyer-like thing. Hopefully Jamaal Charles is working on site, carrying 100 lb sheets of plywood, and sees an article in the paper about the Heisman with dollar signs all over it. Then he'll get motivated and destroy everyone next year.
