Saturday Big 12 Bball
The Horns do play this afternoon, but the bigger games in the Big 12 are elsewhere. Thanks mostly to Texas and Kansas, the Big 12 is getting some love on a national stage and is perceived as the second or third best conference thus far. It would be nice for some teams other than the top two to grab significant non-conference wins and a couple of teams get their chances this weekend.
Oklahoma State (5-3)at #9 Pittsburgh (9-0) 11 am on ESPN
I haven't seen the Panthers play this season but have seen them listed as a sleeper Final Four team. Ok State is struggling to put all their new pieces together effectively. I'd be shocked if the Cowboys stole this one.
#16 Oregon (8-1) vs. Nebraska (7-2) Omaha 1 pm on ESPN Full Court
The Ducks have already won at Kansas State and should be able to handle the Huskers as well.
Arkansas (8-1) at Oklahoma (7-3) 2 pm on ESPN2
I thought OU had taken a step forward in Jeff Capel's second year. But they just lost to SFA at home. That simply doesn't happen to teams on the rise.
Texas Tech (6-3) at New Mexico (8-2) 3 pm
The Red Raiders have already dropped two games that they should have won. However, they did beat Gonzaga in Alaska. This is one they should win, but probably won't

Braska's blowin it!
they had a 52-39 lead over the ducks early in the second half, but now it's just 64-62 with 6 minutes left. By now I'd expect Oregon to pull it out, but it has been close all game long besides the one big lead by the Corn. We'll see what happens, but if Nebraska can hold on it would be huge for the conference.

Don't give it up yet
They are hanging tough. At least they're putting up a fight. The Cowboys just rolled over for Pitt.
Sooners also have a slight lead over the Piggies in the waning minutes of the 1st Half.

Did
Porter just make a three to tie the game and get fouled at the same time, only to miss the FT?

WOW
Can't see the game, just following on CBSSportline. With Neb up three, Tajuan Porter knocked down a three-pointer and got fouled with only nine seconds left. He did miss the FT though.
Overtime.
This would be a huge win for Nebraska. Maric is tough to handle in the post but this team doesn't have much else as far as I know.

can't tell
espn's play by play online is terrible. can't tell much of whats goin on, except that its in OT now and Nebraska is without their second leading scorer on the day Ade Dagunduro.

A big man who can score
Does that spell trouble for Texas? Not likely, given that we get the Huskers at home at the end of the Big XII season. But he's impressive to watch.

in other news
Billy Clyde's Cats have blown a double digit lead and are down 2 to UAB with 4 minutes left.
It's on ESPN. Watch now.

Vaden from UAB
has been unreal.

very
his performance today has reminded me of a certain someone from last year

This one will be VERY painful
Yeah, UAB played unbelievable in the second half and Vaden has been fantastic. But this game is in Lousiville, Kentucky had a double digit lead, and UAB is not very good.
Kentucky at 4-4. Ouch.

yep
So, my rhetorical question for the day is: who do you root against? Arkansas or Oklahoma?
by bigfatdrunk on Dec 15, 2007 3:15 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
personally
I will root for both to play terribly, ugly ball, with a token walk-on to win it on a buzzer beater

Question
Why are UAB and Kentucky playing on Louisville's home court?
by Texas Wahoo on Dec 15, 2007 3:10 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Kentucky
tries to play at least one regular season game per year in Lousiville. I guess just to spread the Sea of Blue across the state.
by awiggo on Dec 15, 2007 3:12 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I guess Louisville is the biggest city in Kentuck
It just seems like if A&M played Tulsa in the Erwin Center.

A little different
Even with Pitino's move to Louisville and Denny Crum's national title, Kentucky is the name team in that state.
It would be more like Texas playing a neutral site game in Dallas or Houston.

Neb wins 88-79
Huskers outscore Oregon 14-5 in OT and pick up a big win in Omaha.
