Reason for Hope?
Or just more blog fantasies? Bob Stoops' biggest fan writes (last paragraph most important):
I want to see USC and OU play. I don't know if LSU is third or what, but there's no question the Sooners and Trojans are the two best. I'm not complaining about the BCS. It is what it is. Until the college presidents agree to a playoff system, there's not going to be a perfect system, and the BCS generally has worked pretty well.
Pete Carroll has assembled the most talented team in the country. Bob Stoops is the best coach. There's no one even close. He has won with power running teams and with passing teams. Why does he always seem to have these big, talented defensive ends when our local NFL team can't find even one?
NFL scouts love the Sooners. One guy told me the basic difference between OU and Texas players is that OU players get better while they're in college. OU coaches apparently do more one-on-one work. Texas coaches apparently emphasize more team stuff.
I'm hearing there's a sense of urgency at the University of Texas about the state of the program. Mack Brown may sense things slipping, and that's why he's apparently considering changes to his coaching staff on both sides of the ball. -- Richard Justice
Most of the attention of late has been of Akina. Changes coming on the offensive side of the ball as well?

I don't trust anything RJ says
I will believe coaching changes only when I see them happen.
And I don't trust most other Houston Chronicle writers, either.

I like John Lopez
and Duarte is a fine beat writer (though of course not as good as Chip Brown). But you guys are right on RJ. he's a rabble-rouser, that's it. I don't recall him being like this before he started his "blog," which if you read his columns is just a combination of like a b-side of stuff that didn't make it in the paper and random bullshit designed to get a lot of comments and hits on the blog. i wonder if he gets some incentives for that.
regardless, i used to enjoy his baseball writings (my other love is the Astros - shh...don't tell Bevo), but they've just become him spouting off about why everyone should listen to him and then after what he proposes ends up being the stupidest idea ever, why no one should listen to him. i think it's supposed to come off as tongue-in-cheek but he's either not a good enough writer to pull that off or he's just an ass. either way, he's not worth my time.
When Orson and PB had John Lopez on EDSBS Live over the summer, I told Peter to ask him about RJ and he did and Lopez hemmed and hawed and eventually said, "Richard is very good at what he does." Which to me means, "He's an excellent rabble-rouser and that's all he is or tries to be." Maybe not what he meant, but I refuse to believe anything else.

Lopez is an Ag isn't he?
I know he did a fair job on the history of the rivalry in that excellent publication the site put out at the beginning of the year; however, for the most part I think Lopez is a tool with only infrequetn/occasionally decent insights. As a native Houstonian the only person who has anything decent to say in the 'Houston Comical' is their NFL guy John McClain, just one Houstonian's pov.
