Far From Texas

When I first moved to Connecticut twelve years ago, all I could think was "Isn't this a 'Division III' state?".  In those ensuing twelve years, UConn has won national championships in basketball and gone to Division I in football.   Despite their success, it's not as though I was about to forget the Horns and the athletic legacy our university has.

We've all grown accustomed to being a school that contends in every sport.   That said, I'd think we'd all trade something very valuable for a championship in football any day of the week.  I had resigned myself to the fact that this group had some big holes especially in the secondary but after watching Jamal Charles over the last four games...I felt that a little bit of hard work might get us back into contention next year.

That was until I saw OU last night.

I felt like the guy watching a jerk run off wit the hot girl he was talking to.   Does anyone else look at OU and think to themselves that the Sooners are so damned loaded?  Does anyone else wonder how it is that their offensive and defensive lines actually DO look like those of a championship program?  It just seems like they have tremendous depth at every position.  It looks like the depth WE should have.

Someone tell me I'm wrong.  Someone tell me we AREN'T further away from a championship than we thought...
