Rumor from Arkansas
The rumor out of Fayetteville, AR, is that Malzahn is going to replace Greg Davis as offensive coordinator here. My dad, who is a professor at the University of Arkansas and former Longhorn, is getting asked lots of questions up there about whether or not that's happening. Again, this isn't a verified, just an interesting rumor.

Seems odd...
I would think that this story would be coming out of Tulsa, if true, given that he is a coach there and not at Arkansas.
Anyway, heres to hoping the rumor has validity....
I don't know ...
I heard Houston Nutt's name thrown around about three weeks ago in a High School press box in Waco ... Strange where you can hear things and not know where they're going
He is from Arkansas
So I assume his family/friends are from there.
Unlike you all, I do like GD and think he is doing not bad of a job. But I'll trade him for Malzahn for sure!
Re:
According to AP Rumors:
A University of Arkansas private fundraising arm approved a salary supplement Wednesday for Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe, a strong indication that Grobe will replace Houston Nutt as the Razorbacks' coach.
There was no word from the university, however, on whether Grobe would replace Nutt, who quit Nov. 26 and was hired almost immediately at Ole Miss.
The Razorback Foundation raises funds privately for Arkansas athletic programs and pays coaches amounts far beyond their regular state salaries. Nutt, for instance, made $330,000 annually from the state but had a compensation package worth $1.5 million a year -- much of the extra coming from Foundation funds.
Ralph Bradbury, a member of the Razorback Foundation's board of directors, confirmed Wednesday night that the foundation had approved a deal for Grobe. He said he couldn't confirm for sure that Grobe's hiring was final because that issue remains in the hands of athletic director Jeff Long and Grobe himself.

By the by, I'd love Malzahn as our new OC, but Mack ain't replacing GD.
ESPN: Wrong Again
Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe will return next season to the Demon Deacons, rebuffing an apparent attempt to lure him to Arkansas to replace Houston Nutt, according to two published reports.
A source close to the program told the Associated Press on Thursday that Grobe will be staying in Winston-Salem.

I'm glad you quallified this.
I've read tons of "I have heard from three reliable sources..." and "This is what's really going to happen:..." and "The Athletic Director told me directly that..." this year, I just have to sit back and laugh. From Miles to UM and Tubberville to Ole Miss LSU Arkansas, to Saban back at LSU! "I have it on good authority" that a bunch of people are full of shit.
Arkansas sucks
How many coaches have turned that school down so far? Tuberville, Bowden, and Grobe are just the ones from this week that we know of.
Looks like they will have to find an up-and-comer instead of established success. Which means totally new systems (probably woulda happened anyway). Which hopefully means Felix Jones decides to leave early as well.
What's not to love?
Razorback Fans care so deeply about their team that they file Freedom of Information Act petitions to obtain and scrutinize their coach's cell phone records...I think that kind of committment deserves a first rate coach.
And something tells me the Hogs will get exactly what they deserve...

Mack the great
It wouldnt be MB if he replaces his "best freind" GD from the team unless-GD retires!!. Which I would highly doubt. Besides if this is true then it is weird since since MB became the best of freinds with DA!!!

Broyles Award Dinner
The rumor seems to have sprung up from something that happened at the Broyles Award Dinner. Greg Davis was at the dinner as a past recipient. But again, I have no idea who started it or if there's any truth to it, other than some people in Fayetteville seem to think that my dad should know something about it.
Please, Please
Oh Santa, please bring us someone to replace Greg Davis. We've all been good this year and this is our Christmas wish! In my opinion Davis has and is the single most problem with the Horns this year. His game schemes and play calling have been dismal at best. How many times were the Horns looking at 2nd and 8 every single game? I hope he gets replaced and soon.

More so..
was the problem of what happened after we faced 2nd and 8. Not to mention the bubble screens on 3rd and 9.
Where was the zone-read vs aggsy? The one play that ignited our offense down the stretch of this season and it is only called twice all game???
you can't call zone read
when your center and guard can't zone block against the NT.
A&M's DT and NT were destroying y'all up front, so running zone read wouldn't have worked.
tell me
why cant Santa replace DA? or he is surely gonna be changed?

Apropos Of Absolutely Nothing...
... a&m approved a 4.4 million drachma buyout of Fran The Man. Incredible.
it's a robbery
but less than the $8.5 million we would've owed him if he hadn't violated NCAA rules with that stupid newsletter.
Basically, the contract he originally signed was incredibly one-sided, with nothing in it protecting A&M's interests. It's what happens when you let the boosters make the agreement to hire the new head coach.
