The benefits of a high ranking.
After the Horns beat UCLA their was a little discussion about the value a high ranking this early in the season.
One real important benefit and one less important benefit. The important benefit is more of their games will be picked up and shown to a broader section of the country and the get better coverage, ie more cameras at the games, better grade of announcers and all around better quality broadcasts. The second is more and better coverage in the papers, on the web etc.
Having a higher ranking may not change much for the team till selection time for the tournament but the exposure means there is just that much more about the horns to watch and read about.

I Agree
Early rankings in basketball really mean little but to a displaced Horn living out of the are it means alot because all of a sudden ESPN and FOXSPORTS pick up and show their games. The Horns will most likely rise a fall a bit here and there but in the end I strongly believe they will be in the top 7 and have a great chance at the final four.
