All I can say is please read this thread, I would try to outline it but I'm still a pissed off the the highest of pistivity! Doyel is a rabble rouser

Nothing more. His style is allegedly "straightforward, pull no punches," but it's all a ruse. He just likes to use his platform to raise his own profile and how better to do that than write ridiculous shit that gets gets some segment of people pissed off. Mariotti pulls the same shit. His column is sportsline's version of Richard Justice's blog. Just ignore him.

exhibit A that doyel doesn't know what he's talking about is that he claims Chris Mihm was a "bruiser."

he may have a point that barnes is better at coaching a slow-down, grinding style of basketball than an up-tempo game, but how does one thing work the entire year and then magically not work in March? he states that like it's a self-evident truth that March is just somehow different.

and now i'm doing a bad job of following my own advice to ignore him.

I get it now...

Now that you say that he does remind me of RJ and I've had to tone down how much I listen or read his posts. It's amazing how everyone outside of UT forgets the 4 freshman and 1 soph, plus no real inside presence. Seems as if everyone believes in just give KD the ball and UT can win. I love our young squad, they just don't have enought right now.

while we're on the subject...

Simmons' newest "blog" post is out. He of course criticizes Barnes, but I actually think he's a little more measured in his criticism this time. Here's why:

He qualifies his criticism of Barnes as one of the worst "in-game coaches" in college basketball. I wouldn't go that far, but it's a sign that Simmons does realize that there's more to college coaching than X's and O's.
In the paragraph on Thad Matta, he says that 90-95% of the success of college coaches like Matta and Barnes is based on recruiting. Again, I disagree, but it's a sign that Simmons realizes that college teasm don't have GM's, which to be honest, I wasn't positive he knew...
He did attribute much of the blame for the loss to Tim Floyd's excellent gameplan and Augustin's terrible play, which I think is spot-on.

It's still a little disingenuous (or at least ill-informed), but it's not a total hack job.

In the last 6 Years

There is a team that has lost to lower seeded teams 5 times and has not beaten a higher ranked team, despite being in the tournament for the last 6 seasons.

That team is Duke.

you know why that is, doyel? because the higher you are seeded, the less teams you play with seeds higher than yours. see how that works?

like, when texas was a 1-seed. unless they won the tournament, they were going to lose to someone with a lower (or equal) seed. and lo and behold, texas lost to the eventual champion, 4-seed syracuse, in the final four. look doyel! evidence that barnes is a bad march coach! he lost to the national champion in the final four!

The guy has made a name for himself by criticizing everything and everyone he possibly can, right down to the people who write to him about his articles. He's a hack, and if any of you guys listen to Dan Patrick'm show on ESPN, you could have heard what an a-hole the guy is live.
