some people act like the worst thing that could've happened to him was that he dropped from the number one pick
first of all ... he wasnt a sure fire pick ... just like reggie bush wasn this past year
just like who's who's isnt this year
give scouts and gms long enough they'll talk themselves out of anything
secondly ... he passed up a year in the nfl to van wilder for a year
from what we know the guy sat back ... led the number one team (according to polls) in the nation in football for a year
he got to hang out with his buddies ... party ... and his only real responsibility was to take dance classes ... wait ... a dance class
how many people would love to take almost a year vacation before they went into their careers
because that's what that amounts to ... yea he passed on some millions
but it's not like the money isnt there now
besides
the nba isnt like the nfl with non guarenteed contracts based on draft position and the position you play
you make a lot more money ... more endorsements ... and a lot more job security in the nba
though he lost in the rose bowl
leinhart had a kick ass year of living ... and he still has a job
whenever durant decides to come out for the nba
be it tomorrow or 40 years from now ... i think it's safe to assume that the reason will be based more on life
and less on money

side note: had durant wanted to maximize his earning potential he probably would've gone to a higher profile basketball program ... kinda like mayo is doing ... WHICH IS OK ... not knocking that at all
but ... it just appears that things that matter to some people
