Gillispie works fast...
A Sea of Blue reports that Kentucky has signed its first 2009! recruit, sophomore GJ Villarino from McKinney, Texas. Apparently, he's played for the Adidas Nation team (whatever that is), and he's considered one of the top 20 players in the class of '09, according to HoopScoopOnline.com (whatever that is). As I mentioned earlier, Gillispie plucking recruits out of Texas is a very real threat to UT recruiting.
The post also goes on to talk about DeAndre Jordan potentially wavering on his A&M commitment to follow Gillispie to UK.
Exciting time to be a Kentucky fan, and not so much an A&M one.

More UK/Texas news...
KSR has more UK recruiting updates.
- Apparently, Gillispie's recruitment of Shawn Williams, another class of '09 Texas product and an AAU teammate of Vilarino, is very real.
- Gillispie is also making some headway with DeAndre Jordan, and apparently some sources say he's heavily leaning towards opting out and going to UK. If Gillispie is able to land Jordan, Patterson and Lucas, he would have an AMAZINGLY stellar recruiting class. By the way, UK's current two recruits are 7-footer Mike Williams and forward AJ Stewart, who are both 3-4 star quality on most recruiting lists.
- The column also mentions an '08 recruit that Gillispie is vying for, Willie Warren, who is highly regarded as well.
Right now, it looks as if UK's hiring of Gillispie is paying immediate dividends.
