Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson will return to North Carolina next season instead of entering the NBA draft early, so does this now solidify their position as the pre-season #1 and National Championship favorites for 2008?
I'm impressed with this quote:
"I've definitely decided that I will be back [for] my junior year," Hansbrough said Tuesday night after the team's annual awards ceremony. "Personally, I'm not ready for the next step of the NBA."
"Playing [another] year with coach [Roy] Williams will help me improve my game individually. There's also some team things that I want to accomplish. College is a great experience for me, and I'd like to be here another year."
I've never seen Hansbrough interviewed live before, but he does have that sort of goofy look on his face most of the time when he's playing, so I've always assumed he was not the brightest bulb in the chandelier... But the fact that he's mature enough to realise he needs another year of seasoning to be ready for the NBA - especially after he got a lot of pressure to go pro after his Freshman season as well - makes me think that either he's brighter than I give him credit for, or he's got good people around him giving him very good advice. Including Coach Williams.
