You Know I Love You, Baby. . .
Okay, okay. . . so the April Fools' joke was a tough one to handle. I apologize for the heart attack.
Remember, though: there's no bigger Kevin Durant fan in this universe than the one writing these posts, and I'm on the record stating that I'm stupidly cautiously optimistic Kevin will return for one more year. I honestly believe he will. If I'm proven a fool for believing it, well, so be it. Mike Wilbon's got my back.
In any case, to make up for my cruel April Fools' prank, here's something that'll get you teary-eyed for KD's return all over again.

need a new KD UTube video
that one is a little outdated. just to think of a few games where KD shined and had some nasty dunks -there were no clips from either Kansas game, the Big 12 tournery or the first round NMSU game.
Wanted video Clips
I realize that the editor had limited available footage to work from when creating that video, but if you could have any KD highlights, what are your most wanted?
My top 2:
- Three blocks in a row - I think this was against Baylor at home where Baylor has a three on one fast break and KD gets three blocks in a row, the final one he just takes the ball for himself.
- The Spin move dunk - Was this in the big 12 tournament or against New Mexico State? KD gets the ball on the baseline and uses a drop step spin move to beat his man, then is some how able to elevate off that move to dunk the ball over the defender who is trying double. I have never seen a player able to dunk out of a move like that.
Clips
The first one was Kansas State on a Saturday afternoon at the Drum. Durant had scored 10 straight points for Texas, then turned it over carelessly, and decided he wouldn't allow the Wildcats to score. So he blocked three straight shots.
I can't remember which game the second one was in, though I vividly recall the move itself. I'm thinking Big 12 tourney.
Top Ten List
I talked about several in the top ten list story.
There was one step back three pointer he buried against Texas Tech that just blew my mind. That whole second half in Lubbock is worth watching over and over and over again.
Durant Staying?
This quote is from a recent AP article about KD winning the AP player of the year:
"This is a great honor, but I'd rather be in the Final Four," Durant said.
Could this mean he is leaning towards coming back for another year?

Sure hope so
I think he really wants to stay another year. I think Wilbon said it best when he noted that he just hoped Durant had the adults around him who will provide a supportive environment for him to make his decision. From all that we know about Durant and his family, that's the case, so we can remain hopeful.
Still, Nike is gonna offer him a looooot of money.
One rumor floating around
is KD enrolled in summer classes.
I think he plans on staying, unless someone close to him makes a compelling case to leave.
Re: Summer classes
Registration for summer and fall '07 classes don't begin until April 16 at UT. Student-athletes are given first priority at registration, so they either get to register a day or two before, or are placed in the first group (I don't remember which).
He might be thinking about summer registration, but I doubt that is official. In either case, he would have until May to pay summer tuition anyway, so it doesn't hurt him in the least to sign up for classes, then decide to change his mind later.
If goes to the NBA
I think he can afford the tuition costs.
There isn't anything official about it, either. It's just a rumor, like several others we'll probably hear from now until April 29th. Just thought it was interesting.
I still think he plans on staying, but alot can happen in the mind of 19 year old over the next few weeks.
More fuel to the fire...
A quote from Chicago Trib, which was posted on SI's NCAA Truth & Rumors...
"The pros are beginning to believe Texas' Kevin Durant may stay another year in college but not Ohio State's Greg Oden after his foul trouble in the NCAA tournament and horrible coaching. The consensus is few big men have been more poorly used than Oden in Ohio State's deliberate system, basically putting Oden in foul trouble and not allowing him to use his dominance to start the fast break by rebounding and dishing outlet passes."
Simmons definitely thinks so...
Two of his basketball blog comments:
"From a talent standpoint, there's no comparison between then and now: ... three superb coaches (Thompson, Florida's Billy Donovan and UCLA's Ben Howland, who pulled Bill Self's pants down on Saturday)"
"(Talking about Georgetown-Ohio State) The possibility of a Thad Matta brainfart down the stretch as Doc Rivers looks on from the stands ... I mean, I am LEGITIMATELY excited for this game."
