I'd love to see the Titans get Aaron Ross
by chief on Apr 28, 2007 11:00 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
Ross would be great by me.
I don't want them to take Ted Ginn...
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:03 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Russell goes #1
Probably the right move. Raiders get a potential franchise QB.
Good for big JaMarcus. Likable guy.
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:21 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
And with that...
Merrill Hoge is on the clock: how long until he buries the Raiders franchise?
God I hate that guy.
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:22 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Russell
I was impressed at how he blew away ND, but I just don't see him being a stud in the league. This year's crop of QBs is lackluster at best.
by chief on Apr 28, 2007 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Seems hard to project, doesn't he?
He's obviously a freak specimen. Probably still has quite a bit of development left in him. But it's hard to figure out what his upside is.
Not sure Oakland had much of a choice, though.
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:26 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
It would be quite a show
I wish there was some way the Raiders could pick up Matt Jones, effectively making Russell and Jones the heaviest QB/WR combo to date. That would have to be somewhere near 550 pounds.
by bendj on Apr 28, 2007 11:26 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rar
Berman already calling picks early again.
So annoying.
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:26 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
it's either
berman on TV or Cowherd on the radio.
You just can't win. too much analysis.

Wish I had NFL Network
Wonder if that's better coverage.

Detroit with another WR
Haha.
by chief on Apr 28, 2007 11:32 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
you think the lions
will try to trade Roy Williams now?
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 11:39 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
they will trade williams
he's a bust there so they should go in a different direction.
by Paragon SC on Apr 28, 2007 11:41 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wrong Williams
I think BZ is asking about Roy, not Mike
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 11:42 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
obviously mike williams
if they can get anything of value for mike, they should. but what does this do for Roy Williams? Detroit doesn't exactly have it's QB situtation all figured out. what gooes is two great WR's if they don't have anyone that can get them the ball?
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 11:45 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
correct
my bad for not being specific, but I figured it was obvious.

to the Titans?
I saw this http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/in... I have no idea if it's true.

that would a good move
but what do they give up in return?
by Paragon SC on Apr 28, 2007 12:07 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
a coke?
What is an out of shape former top 10 pick worth? He certainly has talent. Do they think that the Fisher, Chow, VY combo will get Mike to start working harder. According to some reports, that hasn't been working for Lendale White.

hate to admit it
but I agree.
by Paragon SC on Apr 28, 2007 12:19 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oh my god
How do you guys do it? I tried paying attention to the draft through the 1st three picks and I'm about to go comatose. This is worse than watching pro baseball before the all-star break.

draft cast online
i'm allegedly "studying" for finals, but it's my last law school final ever so i'm totalyl unconcerned and am instead watching it online, which makes it easier to handle.
every time i've tried to watch it on TV, i just get angry.

I hate myself
I have so much work to do and I'm not doing it.

I suck.

Pergatory for AP
he needs to get that collarbone fixed.

how far is quinn going to drop?
who's the next team that has any QB need? Miami does, but don't they still havve Culpepper and Harrington? is Buffalo goign to give up on Losman? i feel a trade coming from some team that needs a QB.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 12:31 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
WOW
Ted Ginn gets taken over Brady Quinn.
I'm speechless.
(And glad the Titans can't draft Ginn, which I was scared of.)
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 12:52 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I'll second that.
HOORAY

Brady is getting Leinart-ed. Hard.

Worse
The freefall REALLY starts now. Who else needs a QB?
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 12:53 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Aaron Rogers anyone?
that is what this feels like.
Buffalo might give up on Losman, but I doubt it. The Rams might draft him to take over from Bulger in a few years, but i don't hink bulger is that old...
Carolina? they have delhomme AND Carr. Green Bay? not unless they're giving up on Rogers. jacksonville, maybe. but they have Leftwich and Garrard. Dallas? doubtful. KC I can see because trent green is getting old.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 12:57 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
KC is at 23, by the way
you think maybe they try to trade up?
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 12:58 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why bother?
Who wants him ahead of them?
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 1:03 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
maybe Jacksonville
but probably not.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 1:09 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dallas
Would not rule out Dallas taking Quinn. This is Roml's last year under contract and they told him they will not address it until after the season because they truly don't know what they have. If you draft Quinn and Romo works out you could have a Drew Brees/Phillip Rivers situation and able to trade Quinn for a #1 later.
by sportsfan on Apr 28, 2007 1:43 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
WOW!!
Thats a tough call. he will fall lower than Leinart with the teams coming up that already have QB's.
by Paragon SC on Apr 28, 2007 12:55 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Well...
Having the Texans take him would be comedy gold.

Zabransky picked ahead of Quinn. If that happens, I'm going to the bar right after work and drinking myself retarded with glee.

Wow
Lynch to the Bills?
Two immediate thoughts:
- I'm not in love with that pick if I'm a Bills fan.
- I've seen exactly zero mock drafts with Lynch to the Bills. Or Ginn to the Dolphins. Why do we read them?
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 1:28 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
bills needed an RB
but i don't think lynch is the answer.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Stunning
What's funny, though, is it still pales in comparison compared to the Texans blunder last year.
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 1:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah.
and allegedly, the dolphins are trying to get trent green from the chiefs (which i imagine won't happen until the chiefs are able to draft quinn). so it might work out for them, but do they really think of themselves as a contender this year? they must or they would have just drafted quinn and started rebuilding.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 1:36 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
College Draft?
I want to see this just with colleges drafting high school kids. Now there is drama. JoPa creeping up to the podium taking 2 hours to announce, the Orgeron just abducting the players and carrying them in a potato sack back to Oxford rather than drafting them, Urban pointing eschewing the podium and of course,Pete Carroll announcing his "awesome picks" as he takes a break from his humanitarian duties, Dennis Erickson stealing guys and strapping them to the back of his golf cart.
The Sabanator did not make the draft because you know, he doesn't have time for this shit.
by UT2001 on Apr 28, 2007 1:53 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
wait....
i'm sorry, i'm only half-following this online. did the jets trade up to take a cornerback? seriously? not brady quinn?
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 1:56 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
two things have happened
Adam Carriker, Nebraska selected to St Louis. Hmm. Grant Wistrom the second?
And the Packers make their selection and all the cheesehead fans boo like the absolute morons they are on draft day.
At least this year they're REAL little kids instead of grown men dressed up like idiots booing and throwing down their pom poms.
I can go on with my life now.

Hmmm
Doesn't Ross have a bigger upside than Griff?
by chief on Apr 28, 2007 2:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Depends who you ask
Griffin is also an outstanding special teams player, hits like a ton of bricks, and was really great before the '06 disaster when we had no linebackers.

Mike Williams going to Titans?
I didn't know! damn, I should move to nashvile
by Cyrus on Apr 28, 2007 2:51 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
problem with Ross
is that i don't think a lto of teams are sold on him as a cover corner. i don't think he's fast enough myself. but is he big enough to be a safety? i doubt it. sort of a tweener. which leaves him as a nickel back.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Intersting pick
The Titans need some defense and with Pacman out its a good fit.
by Paragon SC on Apr 28, 2007 2:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
An exact replacement for Pacman
could have been Ross ...
by Cyrus on Apr 28, 2007 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
no way
Ross isn't anywhere near as good as Pacman.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 2:53 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
well,
I meant both in kick/punt return and DB. I think Ross gets less credit than he deserves because of he only played 1.5 years. (He had grade issues, right?)
by Cyrus on Apr 28, 2007 2:55 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
ah
yeah, in terms of the positions they play, they're the same. as far as i know, ross didn't have grade issues in college. someone screwed something up at some point and he ended up not getting credit for a high school class he took so he had to start a year late. then he was stuck behind vasher, babers (?), cedric griffin, etc. on the depth chart.

What does this say about our defense in 2006? How bad were the linebackers? How much is Chizik to blame?
by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 3:01 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
especially when tarell brown
gets taken in the 3rd round.
by billyzane on Apr 28, 2007 3:03 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
INTERESTING
I said that, Chizik not all that he's cracked up to be, after the win the in RB. That it wasn't with HIS players he lived off of Mack's recruits.
This past season reinforces that opinion, at least to me.

What the hell, Titans
They dont know what they're doing. They have a chance for the 2nd best reciever in the draft with Meachem (or Bowe, depending on who you like) and they blow it. Instead they take M. Griffin, part of a UT secondary that SUCKED. Grif was the guy who, after getting scorched repeatedly, refused to quit playing with his dogs in order to watch game film. Dont forget he was part of the same 2ndary that made a skinny white guy from Iowa look like Randy Moss in the Alamo bowl. This was a retarded pick.
In the 2nd round they could have taken a solid Steve Smith, but instead get a workout warrior at running back. This is a RB who, despite being huge and having a good 40, never started in college OR high school. He cant break long runs, he cant find holes up front, and it's not like the PAC 10 is known for it's ferocious run stopping defenses. In fact, Dwayne Jarrett lasted until the middle of the 2nd, and it was crazy they didn't move up to try and get him.
Titans finally pick up a reciever in the 3rd, but it's a guy who is nowhere near the same talent level as Meachem, Bowe, or Jarrett. In the 4th, they could still have picked up Aundrae Allison, but no, that would be giving VY way too much help. It's doubtful he'll be around for the 5th, and even if he is the Titans would probably still bypass him.
VY has the greatest future of anyone in the NFL. Like most Longhorns, Tennessee became my 2nd favorite team last year, but the titans are blowing their opportunity to win. I'm starting to get pissed.
by DogTown on Apr 29, 2007 11:36 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
sort of agree...
i think Michael Griffin was a terrible pick for the Titans, and they should have gone with Meachem, but it has nothing to do with Michael Griffin sucking.
Michael Griffin is in fact a very smart, very good player. he was phenomenal his junior year, and much of the reason the secondary was bad last year had to do with the scheme and the fact that our linebackers just weren't very good.
