He's the Best
He is in the perfect position to be our HC after Mack. In a couple of years, he'll get a HC job at a small school, and then when it's time for Mack to retire, this is Major's job. At least that's what I hope. I love Major, he's great.

The path Applewhite took to Tuscaloosa hasn't resembled a rocket blasting off as much as a balloon with the air escaping.
Can anyone explain that? Other than that odd quote, great article.
Sounds like he plans on being at Alabama for a while and for good reason, it'll be hard to move from there for a while. It'll be exiting to watch 'Bama games now.

I guess
People use the expression "career is taking off like a rocket" for someone who is has attained success quickly, and the author is playing on that expression by saying that although Major has attained success quickly, his path to success was not a normal straight line, like a rocket, but more resembling a balloon with the air being let out, quickly moving, but constantly changing directions, going from one school to the next.

Better question though is why would Applewhite want to steal Ricky's girl?
That's sort of like me dating Heather Grahm after she went "roller skating" with Dirk Diggler.
Tossing a hotdog down a hallway just doesn't seem like much fun...especially given Applewhite's "lack of arm strength and poor accuracy."
By the way, Miss Rhode Island says that guys like her small hands because they think it makes their dicks look bigger. That'll probably get her a few more votes. Afterall, we can't have her votes garnisheed now can we?

of course, one of them found out what was going on, and dumped him on the spot

but major was already there, waiting, consoling her
iirc, ricky did mention the lowpoint of the '98 season being 'when one of his teammates stole his girlfriend'.
Also, maybe Major is like Dirk!!!!!!
I do not want a picture of that but Major did show his nads a few times in games.
