EDSBS LIVE Goes To Paradise

Another Tuesday, another edition of EDSBS LIVE this evening with Orson and I.

Tonight we tip our caps to paradise by talking University of Hawaii, Colt Brennan and the WAC.

What: EDSBS LIVE online radio. WAC/Nirvana edition.

Where: At NowLive, where you can chat with each other and the show hosts throughout the broadcast in the online forum (which has gotten damn lively). To phone in to the show, just call (310) 984-7600.

Who: Tonight's special guest is Matt Hinton; better known as the Sunday Morning Quarterback. Matt's gonna prep us for a conference that's got two premier teams at the top - Boise State and Hawaii. Just how good is Colt Brennan, anyway?

Four Questions: As always, our four questions for the night.

1. What year was paradise for your team? It's gotta be 1969 or 2005 for the Longhorns, but since the former precedes my birth by a decade, it's a no-brainer for me. Plus, Rose Bowl. Ending a 34-game win streak. Vince Young. I was there. Vince Young. VINCE YOUNG!

2. What does your gameday utopia look like? I think my ideal gameday looks a lot like the biggest, baddest tailgates you see, minus all the crowd.

So, yeah, I still want you to roast that entire hog overnight. Yup, 50 pounds of crawfish. Two kegs? Let's make it three. A live band? The Gourds, please. If we're in Texas, I'll need some shade, so let's pitch a tent big enough for me and my pals to play bumper cars with riding lawn mowers. Like everyone else, I enjoy the spunk of the Texas Pom Squad, so if we could get them dancing on the stage with the Gourds, that'd be super.

And, most important, this thing's invite only. So no more than a couple dozen of my closest to get ready for the game. It's a night game, you realize. And Texas wins. Over OU. In Austin. By 70.

Is that too much to ask?

3. Describe the perfect game - situation and score. I think I answered this with #2. 41-38 was hard to beat, of course.

4. What's your favorite show/movie/book that has to do with Hawaii? Don't even try to bring up Michener; I know you're lying if you do.

I'm gonna cheat a little bit and go with Lost. Filming it there is close enough for me.

See you tonight at 6:30.

Unrelated, but....

Hot Blogger Bracket

PB, I just saw that you were back in the race!  I was sitting here at work wasting time in complete and total disdain - when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Swindle, PB and Precious Roy too!  :)

and in related...

My gameday utopia is when the entire stadium is packed to the gills and everyone has the horns up and chanting in unison and the sound is deafening. It looks really cool when there is like a sea of arms all moving together. Love it.

Backdoor

I was slipped back into the bracket via the backdoor.

My hotness knows no limits.

Until I lose again.

#2

I can't find much wrong with the Newbs tailgate every Saturday.  Except maybe more beer.

Gratuitous Plug

Hey PB (and all),

Just in case you didn't know, the gourds will release their next CD, Noble Creatures, on 7/10.

And if your utopia game day ever happens, I want frickin' in.  I'll even bribe you.  This is my sister.  I've heard she's very good.

SPUNK!

I've told you before

You can't continue to go around referring to your alter-ego as your sister.

Although, I'm not sure if it's more shameless to whore out your cross-dressing-self or your actual sister.  That could be the subject of great debate.

ouch

Well, since she's getting married this weekend, I figured I could give her one last pre-marriage whirl with PB on the condition that I get invited to his party.  Heck, she's 6'1", blonde, blue, and athletic.  That's sure to get me into the party, right?

As far as my alter ego?  Well, if we could get Slobberbone back together to open for the Gourds, the beer is Shiner Bock, VY and KD are there, and it's about 75 degrees instead of the customary 105?  Hmmmmm, I'd have to think about that.

Plus, I got to type the word SPUNK!  That'll put a smile on my face the rest of the day.

The Drams

Do The Drams not do it for you as much?

re:

To be honest, no.  But it's just a matter of taste.  From what I've seen, Brent is having a blast, and that's really all that matters.

RE: Spunk

I'm glad to see our priorities are aligned.  There are only a few things better than a cheap laugh.

And with this subject...it's been typed for a 3rd time.

Have you heard the CD?
Someone get an advanced copy and review it for the blog

re:

I've only heard the one song that KGSR has been playing.  As far as an advanced copy?  I'm old with kids and out of touch with the cool scenes these days, but I've got a couple of feelers out.
