Nathan Vasher, starting cornerback for the Chicago Bears and former Texas cornerback and safety (and proud owner of this game-saving, goal-line interception against Nebraska):
is getting paid this offseason. He just signed a 5-year extension with the Bears worth $28 million.
In other news, Texas now has the following defensive backs in the NFL: Quentin Jammer, (starter for the Chargers); Vasher (starter for the Bears); Mike Huff (starter for the Raiders); Cedric Griffin (sometimes starter/sometimes nickel back for the Vikings); Tarell Brown (5th round pick of the 49ers - signed a 4-year contract); Michael Griffin (1st round pick of the Titans - presumptive starter); Aaron Ross (1st round pick of the Giants - possible starter); Rod Babers was also bouncing around for a few years, but appears to not be in the league currently.
And yes, that's 5 defensive backs from the national championship team in the NFL. FIVE. DB-U.
