Rank 'Em
Very light posting this morning for various reasons.
In the meantime, rank the following football games, hardest to easiest. Explain yourself.
Oklahoma (Dallas)
Nebraska
@Oklahoma State
@Texas A&M
None are gimmes, that's for sure, but it's tough to decide (especially in late June) which looks like the biggest challenge. Last year, I had the Texas Tech road game pegged as the one to watch. We escaped that one, and get the Red Raiders in Austin this year (where we play well against them), but tough road games to Stillwater and College Station await this time around.

Road games always harder
I'd put OSU first because they'll be much improved, it'll probably be a night game, it happens the weekend we play Nebraska (hard to get up two weeks in a row) and unless OSU is ranked extremely high, it'll be easy for UT to into the game over-confident (and when you look at the last 3 or 4 meetins, history certainly supports this).
A&M second...it's a rivalry game, it's on the road, and when Kyle Field is rocking, your passing game goes to crap. We'll just have to see what kind of A&M team is left after their "torturous" schedule.
OU...probably the best of the four teams, but it's not a game we'll overlook, it's on a neutral field, and I'm sorry, first year QB's can win this game (thank you, Colt), but I'm thinking the three Sooner signal calling candidates they got right now are more Bomar-like than McCoy. And if you aint' got the best QB, you ain't winning the RRS.
Nebraska...it'll be a good game, but as long as UT's healthy, we should win comfortably...
Of course my attention will be firmly focused on Miss Nebraska who will reportedly be wearing a T-shirt laiden with corn cobs and holding a sign that reads, "shuck for a buck."
This is a tough one
- Oklahoma - With or without a Frosh QB, OU has a strong defensive and a great running game.
- A&M- In College Station, and their option offense with Lane and Goodson has given us problems. Goodson might be the, and I hate to admit this with Jamaal Charles, the best speed back in the conference now. If he gets outside, I am not sure that our secondary can bring him down.
- Nebraska- I think losing Jay Moore and Adam Carriker, will be really hard for Nebraska to recover from on defense. In Austin, we should win this.
- OSU- Yes it's in Stillwater, but it's still Oklahoma State. While Bobby Reid has shown flashes of potential, and Bowman is up there with Sweed as the best WR in the conference, I just don't see them stopping UT's offense. Texas will get an early lead and dominate from there. It will be more like last years game than like the two big comeback games we had before that.
- Is anybody else a little worried about TCU? They have a great game day coach with a strong defensive philosophy. This is their Super Bowl, their one chance to prove that they are closer to being Louisville than people think. Even at home, this is a trap game for us.
I would maybe flip A&M
and OU, but the point concerning their QB is pretty valid.
Anybody that says the Sooner QB situation is fine must think Huepel is on the sidelines with another year of eligibilty. They only choice is Bradford and in the Spring game on ESPN he was under/overthrowing WR by miles. I'll make a prediction he leads the BIG 12 in INTs next season. The other guys are not an option. Nichols is a nice athlete, but is still playing HS style ball -- and Hazle is just plain awful.
TCU
Like the1austin said, TCU is looking to be the team most people are overlooking on our schedule. I would put TCU as our 2nd most difficult game this year, behind OU. My order being:
- OU
- TCU
- Nebraska
- OSU
- Sheep fuckers.
OU is always difficult, and like others have said even without a qb they will still be difficult as they have one heck of a defense and it is always a tough game. To me TCU is a tough game because they will be slightly overlooked, although I guarantee Mack will have warned them not to overlook them, because they are gunning for us, and while they may not say it, you know they are thinking it should be them and not Baylor in the big 12, and playing us is their best chance to prove they can hang after they beat OU, Tech, Baylor, and Iowa State within the past 2 years. OSU has always proved to be a challenge and they will continue to be for us in my opinion, and lastly I think we are going to give A&M what is coming to them after last year, I just don't think Franchonie will be able to muster up a score even close to last years when we roll into CS..... Only 2 more months!

My take
- agrics- Tough running game and our LB's/secondary may turn out to be a scary matchup. Kyle field and all that too. On the plus side, we have Colt and Fran going for us which is nice.
- land thieves- I don't care if they run a fetus out there at QB, I still think they may be the best overall team we face and they have the second best coach in the conference. I HATE VISORS.
- OSU- Night, road game with a heck of an athletic offense against our D. I hope it's not on TBS...
- Nebraska- If this was in Lincoln I would have this as my number 2. Thankfully, we get them at home where the Colt McCoy show will be in full effect.
All tough...
1.A&M - They get a break from their brutal schedule before facing the Horns. Stephen McGee always seems to have something special saved for UT and their option offense has befuddled Texas the last 2 years. Plus those screaming, purple maniacs don't make it any easier. I think A&M believes they can beat Texas more than any other team they play, and there's a lot to be said about that.
2.OU - I'll echo everyone else's opinion basically. I don't care who's starting at QB. They will get some yards on the ground (very deep at RB and great OL) and have the most athletic defense that Texas will see. Plus, it's the Red River Shootout... 'nuff said.
3.Okie State - Despite my earlier drooling over OSU's loaded offense, I drop them to 3rd simply because I believe the coaches will drool as much as I did and have the Horns hyped for this one. Going to Stillwater has been an adventure the past few times for the Horns, hopefully they'll come out smoking this year.
4.Nebraska - If this were in Lincoln, this would be AT LEAST #2. I think the Husker offense will be dynamite with Sam Keller at the controls. However, the Horns should be in mid season form come October 27. The starters should get a bit of a break the week before (assuming they take care of Baylor).
ranks
- a&m. during UT's 6-game winning streak, I was never really scared of playing the aggies in college station because I never thought they believed they could win. now they believe they can win. it's not going to be easy. luckily, we have until the end of the year for the o-line and secondary to gel.
- ou. just because it's ou. they don't have a qb worth shit. that sort of neutralizes the fact that texas' secondary is young and inexperienced. but again, it's ou, so it's never a gimme.
- nebraska. they certainly have a shot at beating texas, but i'd be more worried about them in the big 12 championship game (knock on wood) than in austin. we simply own them. and count me as one person who's not sold on Keller as QB. he's a "chuck it deep" kind of QB and the west coast offense is instead predicated on short passes. but whatever. i'll believe the hype when i see the results.
- osu. seriously, i don't get the hype. adarius bowman is a stud. congrats. so was calvin johnson, but how far did that get georgia tech last year when he had reggie ball throwing to him? bobby reid is probably better than ball, but still. we're talking about the same guy who got benched during the last regular season game last year against OU, right? the same guy who completed as many passes to UT fans in the stands as he did to his own receivers? best case scenario, this guy turns into a seneca wallace or brad smith-type player. best case. worst case, he's benched mid-season. and people are talking about this team as threatening for the big 12 south? come on....and i haven't even talked yet about how atrocious the defense is. is adarius bowman going to play all 11 defensive positions too? their alleged "best" defensive player (Chris Collins) is coming off of knee surgery and sexual assault charges (which I guess were dropped). have fun finishing 5th in the South again, guys.
