Oden first
Going through my late night blog rounds I happened to stumble upon ESPN. What should I find at the world wide leader of sports? According to Ric Bucher(sp.?) the Trail Blazers will take Oden first over Durant.

Though I can't bring myself anywhere near anything but "Durant, stupid!"
Bet its nice to be a Sonics fan tonight, huh?

What's even worse...
...is that Pritchard now has to try to make a move with Randolph, with everyone knowing he has to make a move with him. I had literally convinced myself that Portland would eventually realize that Kevin Durant was the no-f'ing-brainer choice at #1. I'm really disappointed right now...
What sucks is that Oden's TrailBlazers will have a greatly improved season, which everyone will solely attribute to Oden, instead of the continued development of young players. Durant will definitely be the better player (now and forever), but, just like Lebron and Carmelo, people will argue that Oden accomplished more by "leading" his team to the play-offs.
I hate everything related to Bill Simmons and Texas Basketball, but at least he watched enough of our games to realize that the only logical choice for #1 is Kevin Durant. Anyone who watched him bear-hug Craig Winder against Baylor and jump with glee at a winning shot by Abrams against Arkansas knows he is someone who simply hates losing and will not pout about not being the center of attention. Meanwhile, Greg Oden looks morose at the end of the bench after fouling out as one of the Senior guards extends their season against Xavier.
I also don't see how anyone can watch the 25-minute highlight tape of KD and not instantly realize that passing on him for Oden is colossal in its stupidity.

Augustin, not Abrams...
...Augustin made the winning shot against Arkansas.

I always thought it was Mason
Who beat Arkansas.
We need a ruling here. (I was in California over XMas break. Missed most of that game.)

Mark Jackson on ESPN last night..
tried making the argument that Portland now needs to trade Aldridge.
Everyone on the set had the silent, you-must-be- crazy look and then Stephen A. brushed that notion aside. Ya, they should trade a double double All Rookie big man making low first contract salary. Good idea Mark.
LA and Oden could be like Robinson and Duncan, but in their prime.
Now they can shop Randolph for a point gaurd or shooter -- and be a playoff team NOW.
People forget that Seattle was a playoff team fairly recently with basically the same guys they have now. If they can keep Lewis or trade him for a power forward they could also be playoff bound.
I can't wait for the showdowns in the Northwest. Is 50 points out of the question for Durant in this rivalry?

It was Mason...
...my memory sucks. But that wasn't the thing sticking out in my mind about the play.
What stands out about the play, in my mind, was the celebration by Durant following the shot. I can't find the video, but I seem to remember pretty clearly (from the opposite O-Zone) watching him jump in the air for the rebound and getting super-excited about the ball going in the net.
In fact, he might have been the most excited player on the court...

Questioning Daryl Morey's aptitude...
Any Rockets fans out there that can't believe Houston drafted Aaron FREAKING Brooks in the first round? Especially when there were half-decent PF's (McRoberts, Big Baby, Fazekas) lying around waiting to be taken? The Rockets already have Aaron Brooks, and his name is Luther Rafer Lucas.

i don't know...
if i'd call mcroberts half-decent. half-douchebag, half-pansy might be a little more accurate.

Touche...
Hollinger's system likes him, though. And he'd at least be a body in there, helping out Chuck Hayes. Brooks looks ticketed for the NBDL.
By the way, great gets for the Sonics today. Wally World's shooting touch marginally makes up for the loss of Allen, and I'm a big Delonte West fan. He's already a better scorer than either Ridnour and Watson. Jeff Green is a great complement to Durant (assuming Durant can grow into a 4 similar to Dirk). And I don't know much about Carl Landry, but Chad Ford says he was great defending Oden, which is good news in the Pacific Northwest.

By the way...
I was so astounded with the Rockets drafting Brooks that I had to call my friend and discuss, and I juuuust missed Biggio getting 3,000. Fucking Rockets. Congrats to Biggio though...the celebration was fantastic for one of the true class acts in baseball.

One of my heroes growing up, along with Bagwell and Olajuwon.
my dad was at the game and sent me taunting text messages about how he was at the game and i was sitting in my bedroom studying for the bar exam and unable to watch the game.
thanks for being a dick, dad... kids, don't teach your parents how to text message. it only turns out badly.
