A&M over OSU?
That's a little surprising. I thought OkSt were media darlin's headed into this season.

they are...
but they play in the big 12 south. get a couple of breaks and they could be there. but i don't see any way you can put them over a&m. not when a&m returns almost everyone. regardless, a&m only got 1 more vote than osu.
what's more surprising to me is picking missouri over nebraska. not that it won't happen. i'm not convinced sam keller is going to change much in that offense. but i at least thought a general consensus had developed that nebraska was the team to beat.

I hear you
I think A&M has a shot at the #2 spot, but all I've heard from local media is OSU, OSU, OSU....maybe I'm reading the wrong paper

Chip Brown chickened out
He told me he was gonna pick OSU. I don't see any first place votes, so...

I'm taking Mizzou too
I know Sam Keller is supposed to be Callahan's golden pony, but the NU offense is drastically different than Koetner's "Boise State" offense at ASU.
He isn't going to put the ball up in the air like he did for the Sun Devils. Callahan is pretty conservative -- and he doesn't really know how to run a West Coast offense. They'll stick to a futile running game before they let Keller pitch the ball around.
Mizzou on the other hand will be loaded and balanced on offense w/ a guy running the same offense after 3 years under his belt.
I could be totally wrong, but I just like Mizzou a little more right now, until I see NU play.

I disagree with your assessment
of Nebraska's offense. Callahan will play to his strengths and this year's strength is receivers on offense, so we'll throw the ball around more. We don't have near enough depth at RB to run the ball all the time.
Mizzou's defense is once again porous unless some guys show up.
OTOH, Mizzou is the right choice for the North.
For the Big 12's sake, let's hope the whole North plays better this year.

Yes and No
He may try to play to his strengths, but that doesn't mean they'll be using the same offense Keller made his reputation in at ASU.
That offense is much closer to Tech's than it is to NU and the West Coast.
Maybe I'm being unfair, but Callahan and Greg Davis are cut from the same mold and lack creativity. They are both too conservative.

When is the Big 12 Blog Day?
It would be interesting to get a representative from each team and create pre-season blog polls and all-blog lists.

SWEET!
A&M gets a vote! WHOOP(S)!!!
These preseason polls really mean nothing. Let's face it, nobody knows what the hell is going to happen. All we know for sure is that Baylor has no chance to win the South. That is set in stone. Other than that, anything could happen(in theory).
