Dream Games
The last OOC schedule thread gave me a good idea.
How about dropping Rice and playing a slightly better (not worst in the country almost every freaking year) team in Houston annually (or, for Christ's sake, at least once!). LSU? Arkie? ND? Any other ideas? How about just switching to UH? They were at least good in recent memory.
Also, any other teams you'd like to see UT play home-and-home? I commented on that last OOC schedule thread about UT vs. UT (Tenn.). I think that would have a definite exposure benefit.
One more thing, ignore the fact that we schedule wimpy, and always will. This is you in a college football candy store. Go crazy!

One netural site is enough
the fan already pay ridiculous amounts of money for the limited amount of home games as it is, I would say LSU if it was a home and away.
No (LSU), no (Arkie), and no (ND).
In addition to the likelihood of snafus that permeate early season games, there is also the possibility of losing recruits by providing those out of state teams with a big game in Texas' fertile football soil.
UH? They are pretty much the same thing as Rice (without the SAT scores) anyhow.
I would Love
LSU in a Home/away. I am already looking for to a roadie to Baton Rouge. I loved it when ND came here. I would prefer to NEVER play Arkansas again. I do not want to help Houston Nutt recruit Texas, and most years we do not have much to gain. That is not a knock on Ark, just If we are going to play a BCS school they should either be top tier or bottom of the barrel.
I'd pick a home-away with Florida, FSU, or Miami
Get some exposure in the sunshine state, which is as talent rich as Texas is. Plus the national exposure of a UT-FSU/Miami game would be off the charts.
Arkansas, Arkansas, Arkansas
Those bozos are on my list right behind OU and aTm. Let's get back to the days where we could whip up on them on a regular basis (and get some revenge for the couple embarassments they've laid on us in the past decade).
The "it helps them with Texas recruiting" thing doesn't hold water with me. Any idiot that can be swayed into thinking that playing at Arkansas for Nutt and in front of that loony-bin fanbase is a better option than playing for Texas (or any other Texas school for that matter) is obviously too stupid to wear the Burnt Orange anyway.
All that said, an ongoing series with LSU wouldn't upset me.
Nutt
I'm not worried about Nutt stealing our recruits, I just know the third tier recruits in Texas are better than the 1st tier recruits in Arkansas. Nutt would take those that are "too stupid to play for the Burnt Ornge anyway" and come out ahead.
I do not want Arkansas to get any publicity here or anywhere else (they can keep all the home grown Arkansas talent). They might be able to sway that kid that was going to walk on at A&M or Baylor, and Arkansas gets just a little better. Hell, I want Arkansas to go 0-13 EVERY season. I hate those loons.
eh
In scheduling OOC games, I'd look for programs with a rich history but would still be easy wins in their current state (ie: ND over OSU, or Miami over USC). Unfortunetly we schedule so far in advance that's almost impossible to predict.
As great a history of playing against Arkansas is, I'd like to get out and play other schools that we haven't played in recent memory.
FSU/Miami sounds great, the Irish of course, UTenn would be a marketing dream, or maybe some weak Pac 10 teams to pick on (outside of UCLA obviously).

Auburn would be a good opponent
Jordan-Hare is about as electric an environment as you're going to find on a college football Saturday. A great place to watch a game. There'd be lots of orange in that matchup also.
I'm not deliberately going with an all-orange theme, but Clemson and Virginia Tech would be good ACC opponents.
Cougar High can burn in Hell...
After the way they treated us when we played them about 5 years back. We were suppose to play in a real stadium, not a high school one and then they sold us tickets in temp bleachers but then decided they were unsafe. It would not hurt me if their athletic programs all folded.
At least with Rice, you have a good half time show and you will get a good laugh.
At the Rice - UT game in '82
The Rice band did a "UT Phone Home" extravaganza in tribute to the movie "ET" which was setting all kinds of box office records that year. ET was orange and had 3-foot horn extensions on either side of his head.
At the end, the 60K or so UT fans in Rice Stadium gave a long standing ovation. Still the best halftime show I've ever seen.

LSU in a heartbeat
It should be the equivalent of UT/OU. If this happened, the rivalry would become just as great as ours with OU, if not better. I'd love to engage into a rivalry with LSU.
Call it the "Battle of the Bayou" or whatever.
Like the thread starter said, I want it to be on a neutral field. It should play every year in Reliant Stadium in Houston, home of the Texans.
Too bad we never got to see Vince Young vs Jamarcus Russell.
