Sometimes, It's Good To Be Wrong
Like today, when Brian corrected me re: a potential Michigan-Texas matchup down the line. Turns out I had the dates wrong. Michigan is free in 2012 and 2013, which removes the UCLA obstacle from Texas' side of the equation.
With these new target dates on the table, I'll file away the quiet resignation for now and note my strong support for a two-year series with the Wolverines.
I'm half-tempted to start a letter writing campaign. What a terrific, terrific series that would be for Longhorn fans.

Wolverines?
Peter, are you giving odds <wink>?
If he turned down our good friend Tim Brewster (thank you for the signatures of Chris Simms and Vince Young) and Minnesota, then Mack isn't likely to accept a home/home with Michigan.
Don't forget the USC Trojans are actively seeking a a premier opponent for their OOC schedule. We have plenty of openings.

I'm not optimistic
But I'll be glad to make a little noise about it anyway. That would be a terrific game.
And kudos to you for nodding to Brewster. That guy was a phenomenal recruiter. Doubtful VY makes it to Austin without him.

I think everyone is turning down Minnesota
ND, Texas and just about everyone Brewster calls.
Nobody wants to go play in their new outdoor stadium. That, and Brewster is just trying to tap in to recruiting markets. Not much in it for other teams.
Thanks, but no thanks

Ask the M Bloggers
if they can remember a southern road trip for Michigan. Just glancing at their records, it doesnt look like they ever play teams in Texas or the SEC unless its in a bowl game.

I've been thinking about this
since you mentioned it the other day, and I can't remember any such games either.
I think that classic game against Virginia in the mid-90's was a coaches classic, and so there was no return trip. I do remember them playing at UCLA circa 91' but other than that, no SEC, no Texas, no Arizona.
I think because they have historically played a brutal Big10 schedule in addition to Notre Dame every year, most of their OOC games tend to be directional Michigan schools. And who can blame them; they already have three big-time rivals every year in ND, MSU, and OSU.
