I'm still baffled...
Can someone explain to me what possible reason there is for LSU being so highly freaking regarded this season? I've got a cookie for the first person that convinces me that LSU belongs in the Top 5. GO!

What kinda cookie????????????
Actually LSU is my second favorite team. Lived in Baton Rouge for 3 years and New Orleans for 3 years in the 60's. Oldest Brother went to LSU.
My understanding is that LSU should have a really good team, depending on the QB. Supposedly every other position is tight. The SEC will still be hard to go thru undefeated though.
I know I don't get a cookie, but we'll see where LSU is at the end of the regular season.

When UT plays USC in the title game
The USC fans and national media will tell themselves the whole time before the game, "Well, at least we won't have to worry about an in-Vince-able QB this time MUAHAHA! Colt can't run!"
Not so fast Trojan fans. Now you have to worry about this guy on 4th and 5.

Not so fast.....On 4th and 5
Longhorn fans would have to worry about a defense this time....
A rematch would be delicious, but your right. I can hear everyone saying Vince isn't here this time.

Yes
The USC defense really put it to Stanford last year...
USC is going to lose a game this year. If it has to be Texas again, all the better.

Lots of votes for Texas in the MNC these days
because they think the schedule is possible.
I actually think it will be some random ACC and Big East team this year -- and everyone will tune in, like they did the Spurs/Cavs series.
This will be the year the Big East gets a title shot.
Actually, the thought of outsized W. Virginia running all over USC is kind of funny to think of.

I'd love to see WVU in the title game
When they get blown out, some of this Big East hype might die down a bit. I'd love to see Texas play the couch-burners. Their defense is sketchy at best. They may have to hold the ball for 40 minutes in order to have a chance to keep UT under 40 points. On the other side of the ball, I like UT's superior talent, athleticism, and depth, to slow down WVU's one-dimensional (though that one dimension is damn good) offense.

I'd hate to see WVU in the title game
I say let the Big East team go to a different BCS bowl and get blown out there. Same message and the NC can be between two better teams.

why in the "L"
is everyone jumping on the usc bandwagon lately?? they are supposedly are the "best" team.... BUT THEY HAVE THE HARDEST SCHEDULE!!!!! THEY WILL AT LEAST LOSE ONE GAME... texas MIGHT LOSE ONE GAME... BUT IT'S VERY UNLIKELY.... TCU WILL BE A GOOD TEST... VS ou SHOULD BE A BLOWOUT AND THE ONLY OTHER TEAM I WOULD EVEN BE THE LEAST BIT WORRIED ABOUT IS NEBRASKA... WHO BY THE WAY KEPT PURIFY... BUT YEA....
usc is overrated because they are located in LA!!!! they get WAYYYY tooo much publicity, just like these COAST teams, they get WAY over-hyped, and in the end, everyone sees just how BAD they really are... don't get me wrong... usc is a VERY good team, but i just think that it would be pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for them to NOT lose at least ONE GAME...

be glad the hype isn't all about UT
let USC have the ESPN hype. It's no indication of what's really gonna happen. Texas had the LA hype back in the Chris Simms days( trust me, I live in LA) and what did that presage? I'm actually getting a little worried that the Horns are getting a little too much hype. They're second in this circle jerk. Hype is the enemy.

ESPN crutch
These analyists don't really like to venture out and take a chanch with any other team do they?
100% chance that USC not only wins the Pac 10, but goes on to win the MNC. This is college football, anything can happen (longhorns know this all too well).

ESPN Power 16 Out
Everyone but Mel Kiper Jr. picked USC to win it all. But Texas gets plenty of respect at #3.
Derek Lokey is back. Of course, if it had been up to him, the DT never would have had to leave in the first place. When the 6'2", 290-pounder broke his right leg at Nebraska on Oct. 21, he insisted on walking off the field; it was his only chance to fool the staff into letting him back in to the game. But it's hard to hide a spiral fracture and a strained knee, and harder to play on a leg held together by a plate and screws. So Lokey sat out the final four regular-season games. He did try to beg his way into practice for the Alamo Bowl, though.
"The doctors said six to eight weeks and it had been about six," Lokey says. "Turns out, they meant to be walking, not playing." Mack Brown called Lokey's injury the biggest loss of the season, worse than any of the Horns' three on-field defeats. So no one is happier that a scar is now the only way Lokey knows which leg he busted. (His 515-pound bench press and 380-pound power clean are team bests.) Last year, UT had the nation's third-best run D (61.2 ypg), but with the big man in a cast, the Horns lost two straight, to K-State and A&M. Those games had Lokey jumping off his couch to yell at the TV. You can't keep a good man down. -- Mike Ogle
