Which conference game concerns you the most?
I was intending for this to be a poll for the whole schedule but the poll data was to long so I shortend it to Conference games.
I really believe we have a good chance to run the table, both conference games as well as non-conf.
Most publications feel that UT will have 1 loss, but still win Big 12 championship.
I'm trying to decide which team concerns me the most.
I guess I'm going with Okie State @ Stillwater. Texas will be undefeated setting up a spoiler game for the cowboys.

Okie St.
I think them because we crushed them so badly last year, when I think Bobby Reid may have been having a bad night. At home will be different, and that crowd should keep them from giving up like last time. Still, we should be able to thump them if we don't overlook them.
A&M will, IMO, not be as bad as some think. The media will be talking "Blah, blah, blah, Aggies beat Texas at home last year," and, "Blah, blah, blah, Steven McGee was not born of woman." All that will hopefully make us play like we did against Okie St. last year when everyone was talking about how we didn't have VY to bring us back after halftime.
The only time that a game is lose-able is when UT doesn't show up to play.

Always OU
It's a conference game that feels like a bowl game. The only game against them in seven years that has been a gimme for UT was when Football Jesus made up for his poor showing the previous year. If OU doesn't concern you, you're getting cocky and that will be the downfall of the Horns.

Not saying...
...I'm not worried about OU. I took this post to suggest more of an upset-oriented worry. Always worry about Sooners.
With OSU, you never know if they're bringing a gun, a knife, or a stick to the fight.
With OU, it's either a shotgun or a 9 mil.

If we think that
we should go undefeated, then you have us down for 2 possible losses. If Nebraska was in Lincoln I'd have us down for 2 losses myself.. I just can't show respect for OU.
and yes, the poll is an upset poll......
Thanks for your input HB

I can't be concerned with OU
because they always suck.....If you really want to know something about me here it comes. The Cowboys and the Redskins rivalry used to be the biggest games of the year in the NFL as far as I was concerned. I used to say that the Super Bowl was played 3 times a year. Once at RFK, and once at Texas staduim, the 3rd was somewhere else. It didn't matter if the Cowboys lost every game, they just had to beat the Redskins. I used to get sick to my stomach watching the games.
Well the RRS is the same way to me. I hate everything associated with that university. I think the players from Texas that go there are traitors and I'd never hire one for a business here in Texas.
I can't show any respect for that f-ing team in any sport, period. I hope we kick there ass in every sport.
Some posters here at BON hate A&M the way I hate OU. Well someone said on this blog a long time ago that A&M was like a little brother, you hate the little shit but he's still your little misguided brother.
I appreciate you Kahuna...........

Your red button
I have a close friend who was so totally vested in the RRS that one Saturday after a particularly tragic loss he destroyed $3,000 worth of living room furniture.
Fortunately, I wasn't there to see it. His wife told me and then he finally let the story out.
You wanna say to such a person, "C'mon, it's just a game."
But the RRS is not just a game, never was, and we both would know that that would have been an outrageous lie for either of us. I say that staring lovingly at my 1973 commemorative Dr. Pepper bottle, a 16-ouncer, with all the games fromm 1900 to 1972. In season it's plays a ready reference as the loyal icon.
We did talk about how much we should be investing in such a contest. Obviously $3K in furniture was a little much in his context, but there's bound to be worse out there, that he just couldn't put that much on the table (if it, indeed, the table was still standing...hey, it wasn't my furniture) and that he wasn't horrible, that he wasn't betting on the Aggies winning anything or moving to Houston. That indeed, he generally had pretty good judgment about most everything except the OU game and drinking and women. Two out of three ain't bad.
I didn't give him any solutions. There's weren't any, really, without a major overhaul and if he couldn't find one, life would impose one upon him. He wound up ok in the end. Hopefully you will, too.

there is no other answer.
i've seen a lot of blind hate underestimating our rivals lately. this is an incredibly talented team.

It's not blind hate.......
Just don't like'em...Yes OU has a lot of talent on their team. So does A&M, TT, Nebraska, TCU. I just think they will have 3-4 losses this year.
- Miami
- Texas
- A&M
- Tech or Bowl game.........

you think OU
will lose to Miami and A&M at home? I mean, I sure hope so, but I just don't know.
by carsondude on Aug 15, 2007 4:25 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, to the Miami....
Early game, Miami has new coach/new philosophy/great atheletes....
Yes to A&M because they're due .......
I think OU's DL is a big weakness. A&M will have a good running day in Norman.

c'mon
Do you guys really want OU to lose to Miami? If OU wins , it will be a nice boost to our schedule.

Actually I have always
wanted ou to be undefeated and ranked #1 going into the RRS. The same goes for A&M being #1 till Thanksgiving........I have also really gotten into the ou vs. A&M game each year....I know this is bad, but my next to oldest brother(A&M-Grad)gave me an A&M T-shirt that I wear only that game day.
So you can see I don't want them to lose but they will.........

I'd hate to be OU's new QB
facing Miami's defense. The 'Canes have had more problems with offense than D. That speed coming after an inexperienced QB will be very entertaining. However, facing a new coach and staff, OU may still be able to pull out a win.
A&M is much later in the season; I just can't see A&M winning that game. Whatever problems OU has early, they will have had plenty of time to adjust by A&M. The A&M defense, such that it is, will be the key. OU will still have the talent edge.

Leach
Is getting no love... We know he'll be bringing at least a sword.
Anyway, metaphors aside, Leach's scheme is the perfect upset factory. Offense wins games, defense wins championships sort of thing. Raiders aren't looking to contend for the XII, but they can definitely go off on anyone for 40-50 points and ruin your season.
That said, I think we're used to his craziness by now, and I do not consider them a possible loss. I was just surprised that no one else did.

which
CONFERENCE game concerns you the most?
why is TCU in the mix??
by ut fan in ok on Aug 15, 2007 4:12 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Because the poll allowed me 2 more lines and
I decided undefeated and TCU............I wanted to put the whole schedule but poll wouldn'n allow that many lines.

I take my worries one at a time.
The first up is KSU.
There's a lot of danger there.
As the first conference game, it's a must win.
KSU will be cocky and think last year was no fluke. They haven't been easy even after the Bishop period and won't be a push over this year. The Horns will have to summon plenty of intensity and play well. This game cannot be taken for granted.
Coming just before OU weekend, KSU gets a catbird seat on what we know will be a tough 1-2 punch to start the conference. The Horns are not going to be able to hold anything back.
The good part should be that A) it will not be cold and B) the defense shouldn't be as beat up as last year. The two are lethal companions on the field.
With OU, we'll be on the road three weeks before we come home to Nebraska. I think we'll be up for that, but like the diarist, I think the OSU game is dangerous just because of how it falls. The Horns go on the road four out of five weeks and that's tough. OSU gets the last shot on what could be a road weary team.
