BON 2000
I've been reading BON ever since it was born fully-formed from the head of All Things Longhorn, way back in the run up to 41-38 in 2005. I'm very proud that I was the 85th person to register here and always tend to mouse over someone's name when I read a provocative diary or comment to see their "number", mostly to get an idea for how long they've been around.
Anyway, after noting these recent "Howdy" diaries, I also noticed that the registration "numbers" are rapidly approaching 2000, if not already past that plateau (occasionally there are posters that don't have numbers for some reason...). That number, and the approaching 2 year anniversary led me to reminisce about the countless hours I've spent here enjoyably.
First off, congratulations to PB and all of the Burnt Orange Nation for creating a strong and lasting haven for Longhorn fans of all stripes. Second, shouldn't that 2000th person get an award or something? Maybe a special title? Or is 2000 registered users a negligible number? I don't spend much time on message boards or other web sites like this so I don't know.
Anyway, welcome to our new Longhorn friends and congrats to all of the crew from the bad old days.
All comments, FanPosts, and FanShots are the views of the reader-authors who create them.

Two things
First of all, thanks Kahuna. Lord knows I don't do this for the money (there is none), so comments like that - and the others I've seen this week - are definitely rewarding. Seriously - it's appreciated.
And for the cherry on top? It's game week! We get real FOOTBALL starting this Saturday. Thank God.

How?
So how do you find out what their "number" is?
by 2Bearnest on Aug 28, 2007 11:19 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Click on their name
The web address for their info page will end with "info:"number"". For example, your is 229.

Nice write-up
I've been watching the numbers also. I came in just past the 4-digit mark last year, and am greatly impressed that the growth has not plateaued.
Kahuna - The only time I can't see someone's number is if their name is at the top (author) of a Diary. I can only see it in the comments section. I hope this is what you are referring to.
PB & co. - Keep it up. This is a classy site, and staying humble and modest will get you everywhere in my book. Keep setting the bar high.
Also, I noticed that anonyMoose is #1995. Somewhere out there, #2000 is getting ready to post their 1st comment.

memories
What did happen to scott the bull ware? Good post, Kahuna. BON (and ATL before it) quickly became my one-stop site for all the Longhorn news and analysis I would ever need.
Thanks, PB.

21st
I'll bet Jason thought he'd have the lowest user number on this thread, but I'm back.

number
Where have you been? You're like the creepy, trenchcoat-clad stranger lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce.
Besides, I expect Wells to show up at any minute now to trump us all.

No ID number
Hm......I have no ID number that shows up when I mouse over my "handle". I'm a phantom member. The Baylor of BON. Always here but basically irrelevant.

1460...
Only 1391 off! So close...
This is pretty cool, though.

For what it's worth
I in no way believe that your number corresponds to your status on BON, it's just interesting to see who comes and goes. There's a lot of staying power with the numbers under 100, but there are some great commenters from the 1000-series as well. The numbers also help me keep people straight who have similar names (different iterations using Horns, Burnt, Orange, etc.).
I guess this is the kind of nonsense you notice when you spend inordinate amounts of time prowling here...

the best way...
...to avoid confusion over your screen name is to not include anything regarding Texas, Burnt Orange, or Bevo and instead commandeer the real name an actor that no one cares about anymore and whom you find funny for some inexplicable reason.
#434, baby.

Yeah
there are about 30 people on here that I think are all the same person because they have some combination of the above.

I always listen to you, billyzane
Because you're a cool dude.

i love you too, kahuna
but only because you're number is under 100.

Sorry guys, I think I've got you all beat
#10. Ah what a great number to have... Almost as early as PB himself, but still a great number.

Tough to beat this
I'm actually jealous.

Woot
Bring the sex, TarHorn. I expect total sexpot commenting all year long. Perversion on steroids.

How can you tell when you signed up on BON?
I know I'm in the 500's but I don't remember when. I wonder if my drop in work performance has anything to do with my finding BON?

July 2006
Was your first comment. You've been here a long while.

I went searching
and found BON when things were at low ebb, after the spring scrimmage but before the summer got rolling.
I look forward to the season and the interplay and interpretation. With this level of comity, information and resources and insight, this has become a real pleasure to visit. My compliments on sustaining the site and keeping this so well focused.

So if PB is #6
who are numbers 1-5? PB, do you have access to a list of all the registered users?
by Kahuna on Aug 30, 2007 6:54 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
#126
I lurked in the shadows of All Things Longhorn for about 2 months before registering. Too bad I missed the opportunity to get that 2 digit registration status symbol. :)
And I will echo all the other nice sentiments about this site. It is one of the first ones that I visit every morning.

You've kept me on my toes on more than one occasion. Appreciate it.
