WBB Schedule Released
Ok, you all know I have a prejudice in favor of womens' sports over mens', but I think this schedule is much more intriguing than the MBB slat released last month.
Highlighting the non-conference schedule will be the contest at Tennessee - UT’s first road contest of the year - which takes place on Sunday, Nov. 18 (2 p.m. Central on ESPN2), and a game at Arizona State (Thursday, Dec. 20). The Sun Devils were a a 2006 NCAA Final Eight squad. Along with Tennessee and Purdue, other Longhorn opponents advancing to the 2006 NCAAs include UT-Arlington (Thursday, Nov. 29), Louisiana-Lafayette (Sunday, Dec. 16), along with Big 12 opponents Baylor, Iowa State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. Texas could face another opponent, DePaul (at the Maggie Dixon Surf ‘N Slam Classic), which advanced to the 2006 NCAA tourney as well.
Although Duke and Rutgers drop off the schedule, Texas has picked up perennial post-season vets Purdue and Arizona State. Throw in Tennessee and Texas has an extremely tough road schedule. That's not even taking into account Virginia and maybe Kentucky, Minnesota and/or DePaul at the neutral-site tournaments.
No backing down from tough opponents despite the loss of All-American Tiffany Jackson. I love that. You gotta admit Coach G has b@lls!

Still way too early to tell
There is talent on this team, given that Jody left behind 3 top-5 recruiting classes. And in a way I think the team will be better off without Tiffany, given that they always tried to force the offense through her rather than running a real offense. And I think Coach G has brought a new energy and focus. If we can avoid the injury bug I think we can challenge the Land Thieves and aTm for the conference title, but it's a tall order.
If we win one of the three big road games against Tennessee, ASU and Purdue I'll feel much more confident about the Big XII season.
